To the new article, "the schedule... has only the one day of contingency remaining in its pre-launch flow"? That is amazing work; not only did the guys pick up the week on the landing strut but managed to create a day's contingency? Wow.

No. Prior to the RHMLG work, they had 5 days of contingency time. The 4-day delay to rollover, left them with only one day left of contingency time.

Is Sunday still classed as one contingency day, so Saturday rollout would add another day?

What time is the Rollout to the pad scheduled for? I was told it would be at night.....can anyone confirm this at this point?

Regards,
George

Just got this in the email:

"NASA'S SPACE SHUTTLE DISCOVERY TO MOVE TO LAUNCH PAD

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- Space shuttle Discovery is targeted to roll out to Launch Pad 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center, Fla., on Saturday, Sept. 29, as preparations for the STS-120 mission move forward. Discovery is targeted to lift off Oct. 23 on a 14-day mission to the International Space Station.

The first motion of the shuttle out of Kennedy's Vehicle Assembly Building is expected at 8 p.m. EDT. The 3.4-mile journey to the launch pad is expected to take about six hours.

NASA Television will provide a live picture of Discovery at the pad beginning at 7 a.m. Sunday. Video highlights of the rollout will air on NASA TV's Video File segments."

So first motion is now expected at 8 PM EDT on Saturday, the 29th!  Looks like those processing wizards have shaved some time off the VAB stay!

I thought the original estimate for landing gear work was something like two weeks... so the pullback was over a week. I can see that from the discreet viewpooint of VAB/pad ops they never lost all their coningency.

Pleasure.

Worth noting, we'll be heading to another new thread for rollout and pad flow to launch (to S0007 launch countdown).

NASA PAO really need to get thier act together, are you telling me they can't afford to have one person in at KSC to ensure the fixed cameras around LC39 are switched out to the TV roadcast hub in an approximate order that will follow rollout.  If the guys driving the webcam feeds can do it, then NASA PAO can do it....Shame on you.

Wasn't the Payload Canister supposed to roll out to LC-39A today?

It seems like the payload canister transporter has broken down before it went down the pad ramp.

Weather looking great this weekend, chance of showers and maybe a lightning bolt Saturday evening, but dry Sunday...

Should be one from rollout through pad-flow, and up to launch day.

Probably don't need to start a new thread for rollout until the rollout starts ;>

No change in my forecast - I'd only call for a thundershower as a CYA, I'd be surprised if there are more than a handful of lightning strikes around Saturday and no chance of any problems Sunday (it'll be pretty breezy but I'm not sure that's a constraint.)

I presume the payload will be put in the payload bay Sunday evening or Monday?
