You know what I hate? When the SCA buzzes you so close you can't fit it in the shot!

Thanks again to Chris. He was sending status emails to my phone so I could tell what was up with the approach. Still didn't see her 'till she was past the Visitors' Center and turning up the runway.
Nothin like being under the flightpath when somehting like that breaks into the pattern. Flew a relatively tight final too, for having priceless space machinery on board. Not nearly the 10 mile final you'd be used to on a jumbo.

Wonderful pics johng.
Specially # 001077. It seems like a shuttle launch from the SCA.

Thanks for sharing.

1. An upside down White Knight/SS1 on Steroids
2. Barn? VAB is closer to a barn than the OPF

Back in the mid 80's I was in college in Daytona, walking through the parking lot and heard the sound of a heavy jet overhead. I looked up and there was the SCA with the shuttle heading down to KSC. What a sight! I just stood there with my mouth hanging open. It's amazing to see them fly by.

1. - I stand corrected - an upside down variant
2. - OPF was my intended meaning -

You're not kidding, it's amazing. Want to express my appreciation for the abundance of information on this board that just isn't available anywhere else that I've seen. Living less than an hour from KSC, I try to get to launches and landings, but it's tough sometimes with all the scrubs. You've all helped so much this time around!
As much as I tried to hedge my bets with an observation point for this one (watched from one of the wildlife drives on Merritt Island - they usually close for shuttle events in an attempt to safeguard the Wildlife Refuge from litter and habitat damage, but this prolonged cross-country trip let the shuttle landing sneak by them) looks as though I should have been on the beach with everyone else.
My few pictures are much hazier than those on here, but by God, I got them myself. Thanks again for giving me the ability to plan, Chris and everyone else on here.

John you must have been right next to me, we could have met. Nice shots! What an incredible sight as always. It went right over us at about 300 feet before making the U-turn for 15.

Great pics everyone.
We'll be moving to STS-122 Processing updates once she's back in the OPF. We'll either start a new thread, or keep going with the current STS-122 processing thread (problem being it was Discovery's flight before the manifest swap-around, but as Jim will tell us, the payload and mission are the same...just the orbiter has changed).
Anyone with a strong view on what we should do, PM me, so I can work with what the majority prefer.
