Is there a hit to the processing flow now? I remember at the end of the missionthey said they have about a week before it starts to impact. Because it has nearly been a week and a half now. Thanks
Yeah, at the post landing press conference, Mike Leinbach said they had budgeted about 130 days in the OPF for Atlantis. There were some gives and takes with having to get ready to ferry, but 130 days is still quite a bit more than what they were shooting for last year with ~110 day OPF flow for STS-116 (which I believe ended up being accelerated).
Based on his comments, it didn't seem to be an issue (the availability of the VAB integration cell for stacking the 122 boosters may be a bigger deal in September).

Redstone AAF is unusable. It was doable with Enterprise, but I can't see how they could get an operational shuttle in there.
Longest: 7300 × 150 ft
Now, Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson-Whoelse'sNameCanWePutHere has a nice long runway:

It's been done before. I remember as a kid being allowed to stand behind the captain in a 727 as we taxied past the SCA/orbiter that was parked in the Hartsfield cargo area. My recollection was that it was the initial delivery flight as there were boatloads of missing tiles. However, my search for any record of the shuttle using Atlanta does not turn up. Well, I would have been 10-11 years old, so who knows. Might have been one of the initial ferry flights from back Edwards (DFRC).

They've also stopped a bit farther down I-75 at Robins AFB in the past, too.

I grew up in Atlanta and remember around 79-80 Enterprise came through for a day...that was a big deal for me even back then (I was about the same age) and I still have the faded pictures. The place was a zoo with a 2-3 hour long wait just to get one of the shuttle busses out to the ramp for close up pictures.

Sure hope so. There is fog in the area of KSC from heavy showers yesterday, and forecast for slow-moving showers today from a developing surface low. Early this morning is the only chance to get back today.

Huh...it's just barely getting light out here in Atlanta and probably a bit less so there -- sunrise not until 5:35 am local (another 45 minutes or so). Would they leave with that little light?
