Latest shot of the SRB. Wonder what those two guy's job is? Wish I could be that close!
Mee too. It must be a real treat for the pad workers when they have a shuttle there!

Treat? It is the same as an icecream shop worker. It is just work after awhile. I was gunhoe space fanatic since 3rd grade, ate and drank anything space, Apollo and shuttle. Now as I approach my 25 year in the business, the shuttle has lost some of its luster. I now look for new things, CEV and ELV spacecraft that is where is it at.
The work on the shuttle is divided by shuttle components not work location, so a orbiter tech would work on the shuttle no matter if it was in the OPF, VAB or Pad.

What is the next milestone for launch preps?
eeergo - 31/5/2007 12:48 PM
This launch will qualify as a day launch throughout all its phases, including ET sep and post-separation images.

Do we think Atalantis will be far enough over the Earths shadow to see that green glow again like on 116?
MarkD - 1/6/2007 1:20 PM So this will be a sunset launch like STS-98?
No, I've quoted Hale a few posts ago saying that it'll be a daylight launch throughout all its phases, including post-ET separation photographing. The shuttle certainly won't catch the last sunbeams once high enough, because she'll be catching them all the way from liftoff!
Austin has given the times for sunset above, too, and at ground level sunset is expected an hour after predicted liftoff time.
