Thanks for posting the photos guys. Started back at work a couple of weeks ago, so I missed all of todays events. I am hoping the launch is evening over here in the UK. I will be able to watch then. I hate work.
It's in the evening alright. Launch is currently at 23:37:56 UTC on June 8.
Yes, works out to 7:37:56 EDT. Since sunset at the Cape on June 8, 2007 will occur at 8:18pm EDT, should be plenty of daylight left providing a nice view of the ascent.

And it's been confirmed the launch will be live in the UK on Sky News and BBC News 24.

I am selfishly hoping for a 24 hour scrub so I can make the drive down for a wonderful evening viewing.
However, as a true space fan a clean launch on the first day of the window is always desirable. But it is the shuttle.....

I wonder if afternoon thunderstorms will play a role during the launch time?

Doubt it. The launch is in the evening, not in the afternoon.

The coolest launches are at sunset or at dawn. Examples being STS-98 and STS-102.

STS-98 was six minutes after sunset, with a full moon to compliment. STS-96 was 20 minutes after sunrise. STS-102 occurred at sunrise.

Don't forget about STS-108 (Endeavour)

It launched on 5th December 2001 at 04:19 PM, so it was about sunset at Cape Canaveral.

Was that Wednesday, May 16? Is S3/4 already on board?

S3/S4 kept in the PCR at the pad this whole time while the shuttle was rolled back and in the VAB right?

Correct. They were unsure if they would have to destack the vehicle or not when they rolled back to the VAB and they didn't want to handle Atlantis with S3/S4 in the payload bay. So, they removed it from the payload bay and left it in the PCR.
