Plus+34 minutes, 14 seconds. SPACECRAFT SEPARATION! The Telkom 2 communications satellite has been released from the Ariane 5 rocket's upper stage, completing tonight's launch.

The Indonesian Telkom 2 has 24 C-band transponders to transmit telecommunications services to Southeast Asia. The craft was built by Orbital Sciences.

Good job Arianespace!

BTW, tonight launch was amazing, with a wonderful clear view of the boosters sep!

Beautiful night launch. Anyone got some images for the thread for when people look back at this?

Congrats to ArianeSpace for another ECA launch!
It appeared to be a very successful flight.

(They had a very good video short detailing the different types of payload clamps and deployment mechanisms, something very few public launch broadcasts ever explain.)

Yeah, the bonus of commericial flights. More open by way of advertising themselves. Was a very very good webcast and I was impressed with how smooth the whole thing went.

Thanks for the updates on here. No one else seems to be giving this much notice about it on the other forums. Well done Arianespace and Ariane 5 ECA. That's a beast of a rocket.

I always feel weird pointing it out here, but as a reminder again, SpaceflightNow.com has live updates of nearly every public launch:

That's not a forum, that's some guy repeating what we're watching on the webcast. I was talking about the sense of community.

No, it's not a forum where you can discuss the launch while watching. I understand, and I was not trying to be rude.

It is however a great resource, and they are not 'just repeating' what is being said. SFN frequently does launches even when there is no web or televised broadcast.

Combine the two and you have a lot to discuss :-)
