Was the APU Hotfire Test conducted yesterday before the RSS was moved into position, or is that still scheduled for later?
An APU Hot Fire/Confidence Run is only required if one or more APUs were swapped out or significant APU/Hydraulic maintenance was performed during the processing flow.
I don’t believe that occurred during this flow so a Hot Fire is not required – I will double check the schedule however.

It is a processing/maintenance closeout area. In other words newer foam was applied in that location.

Is there a snippet from L2 that Chris could provide, about events at the pad which have been completed and also to come? It would be so appreciated.
Launch Pad Validation Testing began as soon as the vehicle was "hard down" at the Pad. The next major activities include the Engine Flight Readiness Test and Preperations for Hypergolic loading of the OMS, RCS, APU, and SRB HPU propellant tanks.
TCDT countdown will start next Thursday morning and end with a simulated cutoff and crew egress around 11:00 am on Friday.

When will the RSS be rolled back from the Orbiter? Will it be soon after the payload is transferred, or will it stay that way for a while after?

Not until about 20 or so hours before launch. The RSS provides weather protection for the orbiter during it's stay on the pad.

Why one of the SRB has a black band on top, near the cone and the other SRB do not have? Are both SRBs not similar?

Between 1984 and 1994, the SRBs had more black markings on them, near the nosecones. Why aren't those there anymore?

Don't know why they changed the markings, but the first flight to have them was STS-41D in 1984...and the first to have the current design was STS-61 in 1993.
Prior to '84 I believe there were small markings along the side of the casings.

I also find the reference for each orbiter very good. Did also not realize that there were so many (subtle) changes in the appearance of each orbiter. Those guys at AXM do a great job - the seem to notice EVERY little detail.
Don´t know about "Stack 6" but at the time of STS 125 there will probably be enough changes for them to create a new reference page.

It is a very nice reference, especially for building models; outside that perspective, perhaps they can add some details to some of TPS changes. For example, during the downtime after the 51-L disaster, Columbia had most of the tiles on its mid-fuselage sidewalls replaced with blankets. I didn't see any reference to that, but maybe I missed it.

I too find the detail on those refrences very precise. Most of these tiny changes, we don't even realise until we look up close!
