A Starlink V2 (the Starship version) is a big beefy platform, and Starship with the Pez dispenser is intended as a very cost-effective way to handle and deliver it. Furthermore, it implements laser ISL, so a payload will not need to develop its own Earth links. and ground stations, and removing the Starlink RF removes much of the mass and frees up nearly the entire nadir (i.e., Earth-facing) deck of the satellite. The bus has an efficient thruster system, and if flown as part of the Starlink constellation SpaceX can provide collision avoidance and other management services. To use this platform the satellite would need to adhere to its form factor and interfaces.

My questions:

--Will SpaceX offer this as a product and associated service?

--What percentage of the current customers could shift over to this? of those, how many would actually do it?

--SpaceX or a third party could also offer a rideshare version that provides power, comms and nadir or zenith real estate to multiple separate customers. What percentage of the current F9 rideshare customers might use this service?

I don't see it happening anytime soon with the V3 bus. They could have done it with the current (and previous) iteration on F9 but it seems like they are only doing it for more select DoD projects. A modified version was used for 4 SDA Tranche 0 Tracking Layer satellites but then they didn't bid for later Tranches as well as the NRO Starshield launches which apparently is a partnership with Northrop. I won't say never but at the present it seems like it's not aligned with their interests to market it as a bus to the general commercial market. Maybe once Kuiper comes online and there is more competition for the network space, they might change their mind to take advantage of existing production lines.
