I've lived here on the West Coast (specifically Los Angeles). I've never seen such jumbled lows. Historically, we get one very intense single lows originating from the Upper Pacific South of Alaska, driving downward. The low comes over either Washington or Oregon with a very long tail swing over California. Never have I seen such a non-predictable mess. The Jet Stream usually swings over California into Washington/Oregon and then drives into the mid-central USA. Now the jet is going in a straight line east, splitting, one going over Oregon and the other over Southern California.
