I think if they get acceptable weather they can rollover anytime.  I could be wrong but that's my thinking.
Well, they're going to need a stable forecast for atleast 90 minutes(a rollover usually lasts about 40-60 minutes, but I'm adding in some additional time to handle any problems with the OTS on the tow route).

I know the 0530 Sunday morning rollover time is probably the no-earlier-than time, but any talk of moving the rollover up even earlier if things go smooth or is there NO chance of that?
Depends on how work in the OPF is progressing. I'm not sure if they're even on the OTS yet. Also, Sunday weather forecast isn't all that great with thunderstorms forecast as likely.

If there are storms in the area around 05:30 then I know they won't rollover. But will they keep the vehicle ready the entire day and be ready to roll if there is a break in the weather... even if that break is late in the afternoon? Or is there only a certain time window available for rollover on a given day?

I don't believe there are any particular time constraints for rollover or even rollout.  The reason they try to do them at night or early in the morning is because the weather is usually calmer at those particular times.  I think if they get acceptable weather they can rollover anytime.  I could be wrong but that's my thinking.

It's probably more of an employee fatigue, overtime, etc. issue than anything else.

Actually it's what they call peak traffic. The LC39 area around the OPFs and the VAB is not that large. With everybody reporting for a 7am start time the traffic congestion get pretty bad in the morning and the afternoon at quitting time. On rollout day the Orbiter tow way, which is also an active roadway between the OPFs and the VAB is cleared and roped off, making a congested situation even worse. Therefore we try to roll outside of the peak traffic times.

I for one didn't realize that! Thanks.

I assume rollover on a Sunday makes things easier...speaking of which, how's the weather looking?

Earlier today someone posted a message that they're expecting a high probability of t'storms, unless that's changed by now.

Well, the latest from the 45th Weather Squadron is a 30% chance of precip and a 20% chance of lightning within the period rollover is currently scheduled.

Thanks Dave.

Latest note I've got says they are still going for rollover on time. We'll start the new thread.
