Can somebody provide a status on the AHMS ( Advanced Health Monitering System )? For example, was it active on STS-116 or just in standby mode, and will 117 be it's first flight in the active mode?

Again - you are in the STS120 Update Thread. And hitting the search button here on the forum or better yet the article Chris wrote will explain to you how it was used in STS116.

Mission: STS-120 - 23rd International Space Station Flight (10A) -
U.S. Node 2
Vehicle: Discovery (OV-103)
Location: Orbiter Processing Facility Bay 3
Launch Date: Targeted for Oct. 20, 2007
Launch Pad: 39A
Crew: Melroy, Zamka, Parazynski, Wheelock, Wilson, Nespoli and Tani
Inclination/Orbit Altitude: 51.6 degrees/122 nautical miles

Testing of the "shuttle to station power transfer system" is complete.
Functional testing of the atmospheric revitalization pressure control
system, part of the orbiter's life support system, continued this
week. Modifications to Discovery's engine cutoff sensor wiring
continue, as does the installation of BRI tile around the main
landing gear doors and external tank doors.

I spoke with Paolo Nespoli in Rome on March 14. He told me that the crew made some crew photos few weeks before this meeting. But I don't know why they didn't released it yet.

I still think the payload bay arrangement offers more space for something else to carry up there. I asked about this in another thread, not sure if about this flight, but  the payload limitations between the orbiters was explained there. Unless the Node 2 is crammed packed full of equipment to take up the weight limits, there should be something else taken up there along with the node... i.e., copula, placed in front of it. I'm curious what Discovery was supposed to carry up with it, if the designers of the shuttle built it with only the capability of carrying such a small payload and leaving the rest empty. ??

Hang on a minute, Discovery may be the heaviest if the current fleet but it's taking the JEM Kibo module up next year which takes up most of the bay including the JEM RMS.  :)

The shuttle was designed for 65klb (55klb now) to 160nmi and a cargo bay of 60 feet by 15 feet dia.   Sometimes the mass capability is used up before the volume is.    Node 2 is the same shell as an MPLM but with 4 more CBM's.  It can hold 8 racks.  This flight uses all the available capacity

Do Columbus and Node 3 both have the same shell as an MPLM?

And that was to ~28.5 deg. inclination, which ISS didn't end up going to.

What's the status of the STS-120 booster segments and ET? Segment shipping to KSC still pending?

There's a daily pdf from ATK on L2 which shows all booster status.
