Is there any webcam with the mating process ? Or I am behind schedule ?
Hardmate was done sometime earlier this morning. And there's no webcameras  of HB-1.

Per NASA's shuttle site.  The hard mate is complete.

... Of course there's still a fair amount of work before Discovery's rollover and mate on the 19th...

Not long now until a new thread for rollover and VAB ops! Timeline really has been saved with the tank repair.

I think we're still looking to:

- Rollover:                      September 12 (I thought this had been changed)
- Mission Briefings:          September 14 (I'm hoping the Press Kit will not be far behind!)
- Orbiter/ET-SRB mating: September 19
- Rollout:                        September 27th.

All dates per http://www.cbsnews.com/network/news/space/spacesked.html

The rollover target is either out of date or a typo; it's the 19th in all the recent documentation...it would be a little strange for the orbiter to stay in the VAB transfer aisle for a week between rollover and lift to mate...

Strange, yes but not unprecedented. Discovery was mated to OTS in the transfer aisle while the new STS-114 ET/SRB stack was being readied for her after she was demated from her original stack. Spent 5 days waiting in the transfer aisle(June 2 05-June 7 05).

That's what I thought.  The CBS site is generally more up to date than that, that's why I posted my comment above.  Thanks!

Actually, I will "have known", but if you read my comment above, you'd understand that I thought I had read here that it was the 19th.  CBS is generally more up to date on that list, that's why I posted my comment.

EDIT: sorry about my grammar pet peeve.  I originally wrote the 19th in my post, but then rechecked it and couldn't find anything going back a few days in the current thread, that's why I checked CBSNews.

No rollover in that case.

No, but a rollback from the pad. Same deal. Moved orbiter before stack was ready for mate.

It's trivial, but I disagree...different alternatives and that was a fairly unique situation -- anywhere besides the transporter probably meant backing out of some closeouts, which would then need to be redone.  The current situation is more typical.

Is it just me, or do the Ice Frost Ramps look different on this tank than all the previous ones? Was there a redesign? I thought that was coming in 2008?

Mission: STS-120 - 23rd International Space Station Flight -
U.S. Node 2
Vehicle: Discovery (OV-103)
Location: Orbiter Processing Facility Bay 3
Launch Date: Targeted for Oct. 23, 2007
Launch Pad: 39A
Crew: Melroy, Zamka, Parazynski, Wheelock, Wilson, Nespoli and Tani
Inclination/Orbit Altitude: 51.6 degrees/122 nautical miles

In Orbiter Processing Facility bay No. 3, forward and aft closeout
work continues. Work is under way to test for orbiter structural
leakage and positive pressure. Final orbiter power down is scheduled
for next week.

In the Vehicle Assembly Building, external tank No. 120 was
transferred on Wednesday from its checkout cell to high bay No. 1 for
mating to the solid rocket boosters. Closeout work is now under way,
including mechanical and electrical connections of the tank and

Has something ocurred at Pad-39-A? I'm looking on the KSC Live Video Feeds and it looks like a huge object made of concrete is laying on its side. I assume it's Pad A because I can see another pad with the MLP on it in the background.

I can't see anything unusual at the pad. Are you talking about the rectangular object with a circular hole in it? That's a camera. There's a second one right next to it.
