Mission: STS-120 - 23rd International Space Station Flight (10A) -
U.S. Node 2
Vehicle: Discovery (OV-103)
Location: Orbiter Processing Facility Bay 3
Launch Date: Targeted for Oct. 20, 2007
Launch Pad: 39A
Crew: Melroy, Zamka, Parazynski, Wheelock, Wilson, Nespoli and Tani
Inclination/Orbit Altitude: 51.6 degrees/122 nautical miles

In Orbiter Processing Facility bay No. 3, workers have completed
verifying the forward reaction control system interface connections.
New, stronger tile known as BRI tile is being installed around the
main landing gear doors and the external tank doors. Checkout of the
"station to shuttle power transfer system" is under way. Technicians
are also working on modifications to the orbiter's engine cutoff
sensor wiring. This work involves rerouting new wires and installing
new resisters. APU lube oil servicing is complete, and functional
testing of the atmospheric revitalization pressure control system,
part of the orbiter's life support system, is in progress.

Servicing of the ammonia boiler system, a heat exchanger that helps
cool the hydraulic system, was completed early this week. The drag
chute, which helps slow the orbiter after landing on the runway, was
installed. Functional testing of the atmospheric revitalization
pressure control system, part of the orbiter's life support system,
continued this week. The orbiter docking system mechanism has been
tested and will be stowed for flight. Modifications to Discovery's
engine cutoff sensor wiring continue.

Snippet from L2: OV-103 (STS-120)
Have power-up testing and a lot of tile work ahead. Yellow OPF rollover schedule due to tile count and OMS pod coming back from HMF.

We get hold of the most extensive processing updates for the orbiters on L2, and you know what they've got for Discovery?

"OV-103 (STS-120)
Nothing to report. "

Never a bad thing, means everything is going well.

However, there is an issue with Discovery's tank. They've got a four week slip at MAF, which knocks out all the buffer to make it to KSC for mating. Still on target, but only just now.

We'll update when we have information on this. Basically, it looks like the processing is slipping on the tank, but the target to ship is still ok. That doesn't always affect the orbiter side of processing.

System testing is complete. Functional testing of the atmospheric
revitalization pressure control system, part of the orbiter's life
support system, continued this week. Modifications to Discovery's

Didn't realize it was that big! It'll be an AHMS controller too.

Chris, any information about the tanks after ET-120?

In addition to the last question, how many ET's have been built or have started to be built at MAF for future flights? :)

Chris, any information about the tanks after ET-120?

They only use one ET per mission so any tanks after ET120 would not be used on STS120 - you might try to make a separate thread in a non-STS120 section...

Can somebody provide a status on the AHMS ( Advanced Health Monitering System )? For example, was it active on STS-116 or just in standby mode, and will 117 be it's first flight in the active mode?
