Large amount of Discovery processing here. http://www.nasaspaceflight.com/content/?cid=5180

I know I go on a bit about LON/CSCS, but I do think it's an important and a positive (not gloom and doom) subject to get across in terms of safety.

I'm glad you elaborate on LON, Chris. I don't think it's covered enough on other sites. I also think those potential missions and their crews should be listed on NASA's public launch manifests.

The LON/CSCS missions are the next missions in the que (the same orbiter and crew) .  There is no need to list them separately.  The STS-3XX is just for the flight planning documentation.

But they have different potential launch dates.

But they have different potential launch dates.

They are unknown.  LON by definition is a unknown launch date with just a NET.

So are the launch dates for the normal missions, until the FRR sets the official date.

They don't preset a LON date if that's what you are asking, that would not be determined until they find a need for LON.

Probably more appropriate for the Q&A section...

Um... It's been released by NASA (and reported on this site) that Discovery's LON launch date in the event of an emergency on STS-118 is October 5. So... They do release LON launch dates.

Here's the link to the article on this site that gives the LON launch date.

It is NOT a launch date.  It is a target date.  It is the date that all the elements have to be ready to support.   That is  the nature of an LON, everything has to be ready to support an ILC.  It doesn't mean they would launch on that date even if the LON is needed.

ILC......??

Oh, well whatever. I always say to my friends even though I've followed the Program closely since I was 14, now 33, I'll never fully understand the inner workings of NASA and their internal planning. Obviously those who work there do. Sorry if that's off-topic for this thread...

SRB build-up is done the Rotation, Processing and Surge Facility. You mean SRB stacking, that is done either of the two VAB Integration and Assembly High Bays(1 and 3). And no, they're still stacking the right SRB.

Is it me or did anyone else notice the very dark foam on ET-120?  I know the foam darkens with age but that's dark stuff!  Reminds me of the early tanks in the 1980s.

ET-120 spent a long time out in the sun with the STS-114 vehicle in April and May of 2005.  That was longer than most pad flows before the vehicle was rolled back to the VAB.

(Going backwards in time)
Top: before rollback, 25May 2005
Middle: during rollout, 6 April 2005
Bottom: roll into VAB, 6 January 2005

Does anyone like my STS-120 mission poster? I tried to make the ISS look as if it was taken after STS-120. I think it's my best piece of photo editing yet!
