I see, in the photo of the pilot in his seat in the shuttle simulator, that the simulator still has the original cockpit configuration. How do they train for the new cockpit displays, the Multifunction Electronics Display System (MEDS)?

First time I've looked in this thread. I like the photo that anik posted on 31/3/07, when the guys are inside the node 2, there are arrows pointing to the JEM and COL. It looks like they are printed onto the walls, so will these stay on, or will they be taken off before flight.

I like those photos too. It's nice to see the inside of the module, because it's acually quite big compared to Unity... :)

There are all kinds of markings in the nodes:

those are for onorbit.  Ground crews would have no use for those decals

The picture you are referring to is from the simulator in building 9 and is used primarily for strap-in and familiarization exercises.  The MEDS training is done with the simulators in building 5.

It was a fam tour.  A lot of times, when an assigned crew is going to see the hardware, other folks will join the crew for a tour.  If you consider how much work is involved with stopping the regular KSC work for the astronauts to stop by and get a fam visit, you'd think it wise to lump as many astros together for a tour.

A view of the commander in her seat. Notice the STS-115 handbook just to the right of the joystick in this shot... :)
