Mission: STS-120 - 23rd International Space Station Flight - U.S. Node

Vehicle: Discovery (OV-103)
Location: Orbiter Processing Facility Bay 3
Launch Date: Targeted for Oct. 20, 2007

Inclination/Orbit Altitude: 51.6 degrees/122 nautical miles

In Orbiter Processing Facility bay No. 3, Discovery's main engines No.
1 and 2 have been installed, as have the heat shields for those
engines. Engine cutoff sensor system and payload premate testing are
complete. Rigging of the latching mechanism for the orbiter boom
sensor system is complete and the system has been installed for
flight.

Stacking of the STS-120 solid rocket boosters in the Vehicle Assembly
Building began this week, with the left aft booster and left aft
center segments delivered and mated to the mobile launch platform.

Why are they waiting longer to install the third engine?

IIRC from a document on L2, it was waiting for a LPOTP.

Do the different color clean suits signify anything? Some have a purple hue and some a green hue.

No, nothing special. Just different batches of suits purchased at different times. The green ones are the latest buy and also seem to be a little cooler.

L2 has all this information. From what I can see it should be at KSC by the end of the month.

Thanks for the info on the tank. I thought it was a little funny that we hadn't heard anything about its shipment to KSC.

No -- the lights were off, they may have had the weekend off.

Not yet, which probably means no recent changes...the most recent plan documented on L2 has work continuing on left booster buildup this week.

Any latest news on SRB stacking? ;)

Best to get on L2 for same day processing info on all elements, but here's a snippet on the specific request. It's going to get really busy for 118/120 on L2 soon, so I can't do this all the time.

ET-120 on the way. Shipped this morning. Writing up the information as it's been one of the most work intensive tanks MAF's had to work on. Lots of nice praise from the managers.

Getting this out of the way ahead of FRR preview for 118.

How does one go about getting inside the tank to R&R the ECO sensors?  Does someone even have to go in there or can they be removed from outside?
