According to press-conference of Expedition 15 crew, Daniel Tani will participate in one of three STS-120 spacewalks...

Scott Parazynski, Daniel Tani and Clayton Anderson.

I'm doing an STS-120 article today, as there's been some crew movement. And we've got the mission baseline presentation on L2.

However, STS-120 is with Atlantis, I should note.

Why? Tani already has an EVA flight under his belt and he is really good. Anderson is a rookie but he has been in training for years, specifically for this stage, and he is good too. It also helped that he trained along with Williams for a long time who was good as well.

Ah, I understand. Well, if it helps, there are a number of factors including suit logistics (keeping the number of suits up/down to a minumum), the fact that Tani is an experienced EVA guy, Anderson being previously trained for 10A stage, skill level, IV needs, etc ...

But, things do change so you just have to take it all with a few grains of salt. Don't be surprised if another shuttle guy is designated as EV. Afterall, you have to have two guys trained for shuttle contingencies (some of which are post-undock/shuttle only) and it isn't very practical to use an ISS guy for that. ISS guys are too busy with learning ISS systems that it is difficult for them also to retain the intricate details needed for something like maybe a TPS repair. This would be especially true of the guy coming down after a long stay. There are a number of possibilities this far out.

I haven’t really been looking at mission details that far down the line, but I am pretty sure Doug Wheelock is an EVA crew member on 120...that is what he told me.
