As you are finding out, NASA PAO are pretty useless in responding to the public, so don't be offended if you get nothing back.

My eyes could be fooling me but the second to last Columbia pic looks to have something dark in the trouble spot. Could that be the damaged area?

I think thats artifical noise and more to do with the difference in the high reflecting radiators against the less reflective RCC and wing.

LOL, I finally received a reply from NASA's enquiries office.  Rather disappointing to get a canned response linking me back to the NASA website FAQ.  Does anyone know of a better point of contact that I should send the image to?
