Beautiful landing by Roman.  Got to see it during my lunch break :) Crew taking a look at the underside of the bird.  Just beautiful to see her home.  Well Gwen we were wrong about the time but we hit the pocket!!  Welcome home Discovery!!

Great comments from Commander Polansky.

To those that call the orbiter's "its" - listen to the commander :)

KSC PAO signing off...the post landing briefing will start as soon as Griffin, Gerst, and Mike Leinbach can make it over to the press center.

Nathan, lol. I'm glad that's all I lost today. Happy they're all home safe & we can all get ready for the next mission.

A White Sands landing would've been interesting, but in retrospect, I'm glad they were able to return to Florida.  I'm sure a lot of folks are relieved about that.  Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all!

Yeah, likewise. Bruce Buckingham said that he'd gone back to the O&CB with Reiter in the crew transport vehicle (i forget the technical term!)

Just how wet can Discovery get?  They seemed to want to do the handshakes and speech in priority to towing away the shuttle.  Couldn't they cover it up?

Always done that way, and probably doesn't make much difference in being ready for tow.  The orbiter is usually out on the runway for at least four hours before they start towing it (in this case to OPF Bay 3).
