Not sure if this was something previously noted, but if not, it deserves a mention:

[Footnote of interest:  Part of the return cargo on STS-116/Discovery is Suni Williams' long, flowing hair.  She parted with it and donated it to Locks of Love, a Florida-based organization that makes wigs for children who have lost their hair due to cancer.]

Go for payload bay door closing.

This is an important step for the KSC opportunity.

Yeah, a bunch of us were making fun of it when we saw it on the transfer manifest... can't remember what flight day that was.  Just thought it was a joke.

We were then subsequently put to shame when we learned that it was real and what it was for.   :o

Steve Lindsey is apparently rocketing down the SLF just a few feet off the deck :)

Yes that is Paul Hill at the MOD console and Steve Stich, the ascent FD for this flight is sitting to Norm Knight's left (Norm is the entry FD).

He is. He's a top end manager now. Really sounds like a brilliant guy in the Wayne Hale sense from all accounts.

Notes of a sensor not indicating on payload bay door closure. Waiting for more, as we didn't get to hear CAPCOM's response.

Steve Stitch is acting as the Weather Flight Director for landing....anyone know why they decided to have one FD for launch and another for landing? It's usually the same FD isnt it?

MCC want to look at the payload bays doors to see if they can latch.

Seems like they have problem with one of the microswitches on the payload bay doors and the MCC has asked the crew to power up cameras B and C to take a look on the latches.

I hope that'll be live on NASA TV ... don't think I ever saw live pictures from the payload bay once the doors are closed ...

I was thinking the same thing.  No dice though.
