Edwards note: Orbit 204 would have a sun-angle violation on runway 22.
They still have the other end of the runway, though, I presume.

Runway 04 it sounds like:

"By Orbit 204, winds may shift a little more northerly, giving more headwind and less crosswind for runway 04. "

What is the fluid loading that they have been asked to do.  Do they have to drink several pints of water?

I see people in blue jump suits quite often at Dryden; however, I have no idea what they are doing.

All NASA pilots wear blue not just astronaut

OK...probably should check your MER reports...yes, 04/22 is the same runway.

It's not a large amount of water. It's to help avoid dizzyness etc, as the body is tricked into losing some water when they get into micro/zero g. Kyle Herring said it better on NASA TV just now.

It is a saline  fluid that they drink before deorbit to counter the blood volume loss the crew has experienced in wieghtlessness.  This is to prevent lightheadedness or passing out upon landing.

Edit:

It is a relatively large amount.  The reason for the "Go" to perform fluid loading is because of the discomfort during a waveoff

I don't think I've ever seen a Dryden test pilot wear blue...

ETEE--fluid loading means they drink alot of liquid--water, OJ, stuff like that-to get there electrolice--not sure how to spell what im tryin to say but--to get their bodies hydrated--they i think take salt pills--that would make you thirsty--so youll be able to guzzle lots of water.  The thing is in space your body doesnt need all that fluid to keep you hydrated because of the way fluids in your body shift in microgravity--when you get back you do or else your gonna have a really dry body when you get back here.
Three Engines onboard Endeavour have now throttled back to 2/3rds throttle to prepare the spacecraft to pass through the area of maximum dynamic pressure and to go supersonic

It isn't the "dry" body, it is passing out they are preventing

So to update

Going for Edwards this orbit - currently red, but good chance it will come in.
Back up for this orbit is KSC(if green) if Edwards is red

Following orbit would in all likelyhood be White Sands unless they got a good Green on Edwards

Looks like we've got a plan now.

Give KSC a chance for op 2. If no good, land at Edwards.

If Edwards is indeed not good enough, then White Sands.

If they pull off KSC, that would be a huge coup, but Edwards being back in play is also helpful compared to White Sands.

Based on the deorbit PAD updates, it appears to me that Discovery will be heading to EDW on the next deorbit opp. (depending on weather conditions of course!)  and maybe diverted to KSC if the weather there shows some hope. I think the chance of a White Sands landing may be fading, but who knows...

Techincally it's KSC first, not a back up.

They will only take Edwards if KSC rules out on the time they need to decide for Edwards. Edwards is first on the list though, but they'll give up Edwards being green if KSC is also green.
