Loft Orbital Solutions Inc. (“Loft Orbital”) requests authority to launch and operate a constellation of 10 satellites (“YAC-1”). YAC-1 is Loft Orbital’s first customer constellation, which will be the EarthDaily Analytics Corp. (“EarthDaily”) earth observation system. Each satellite in the YAC-1 constellation includes a VNIR imager, a SWIR imager, and a Thermal/IR imager. The satellites will be phased equally around the orbital plane and provide nearly daily coverage of major Earth land masses.The constellation is expected to be launched on two SpaceX Transporter missions.The first satellite is scheduled for launch in June 2024 and the remaining satellites in October 2024.The YAC-1 spacecraft are based on the AOS Arrowbus originally developed by Airbus for the OneWeb broadband telecommunications company.Basic physical dimensions are 1200 mm x 1052 mm x 1036 mm with a mass of approximately 216 kg.

Starfish Space will collaborate with D-Orbit to dock with any or all three of the following DOrbit ION OTVs:• SCV-012 will deploy from Transporter-11 in June 2024, into an orbit at 590 km SSO, in the same orbital plane as Otter Pup 2, but several months earlier. After Otter Pup 2 is launched in October 2024, either or both spacecraft would conduct orbit changing maneuvers to rendezvous (Otter Pup would not raise its orbit to an altitude that would prevent it from naturally deorbiting in five years post missioncompletion). The rendezvous maneuvering could begin as soon as Otter Pup 2 is on orbit.• SCV-014 and SCV-016 will be on the same launch vehicle as Otter Pup 2. They will deploy at 510 km, along with Otter Pup 2.o SCV-014 will become available for docking maneuvers one year post deployment (~Q3 2025).o SCV-016 will become available for docking maneuvers 30 days post deployment. Docking could then be conducted during an interval of 20 days before SCV-016 maneuvers to 1,200 km to complete its mission.
Starfish Space currently has a spacecraft on orbit called “Otter Pup” (see FCC File Number: 1117- EX-CN-2022). Because Otter Pup experienced a thruster anomaly while on orbit, it can no longer perform its intended docking demonstration mission. Otter Pup 2 spacecraft is a second effort to perform the docking demonstration. The Otter Pup 2 spacecraft and mission are the same as the Otter Pup spacecraft and mission that is currently on orbit, except for:1) Improvements to some of the subsystems including the failed thruster2) Otter Pup 2 will deploy directly from a SpaceX upper stage adapter (not from an OTV)3) Otter Pup 2 will dock with a different spacecraft than was planned for Otter Pup
The Otter Pup 2 spacecraft will be deployed from a quarter plate on the upper stage adapter of the SpaceX Transporter-12 rocket. Transporter-12 will launch from Vandenberg Space Force Base, no earlier than October 1, 2024. Otter Pup 2 will deploy into a sun synchronous orbit of altitude of 510 km, inclination 97.4 degrees. Transmission will begin at deploy, and cease approximately 1 year later.After spacecraft commissioning, Otter Pup 2 will rendezvous with an Orbit Transfer Vehicle (OTV) ION model, which is owned and operated by the space logistics company, D-Orbit. Otter Pup 2 will perform proximity operation maneuvers around ION, and then slowly approach and dock with ION. Otter Pup 2 will then undock from ION, repeating this temporary docking maneuver one or more times, and then ION and Otter Pup 2 will move apart and orbit independently. Atmospheric friction will slow the Otter Pup 2 spacecraft and reduce the altitude of the orbit, until passive de-orbiting occurs approximately 3 years after station keeping ceases two years from the launch date. Uzma will launch its UzmaSAT-1 satellite in October 2024 aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. Upon commissioning, UzmaSAT-1 will integrate into a 38-satellite constellation managed by Satellogic, a US-based leader in sub-meter resolution EO data collection.
Inversion has developed a pathfinder vehicle, called Ray, that’s a technical precursor to a larger platform that will debut in 2026. Ray will head to space this October, on SpaceX’s Transporter-12 ride share mission, paving the way for Inversion’s future plans on orbit (and back).Ray is small — about twice the diameter of a standard frisbee — and will spend anywhere from one and five weeks in space, depending on factors like weather and how the orbit aligns with the landing site, Inversion CEO Justin Fiaschetti explained in a recent interview.This first mission will have three phases: the initial on-orbit phase, where the spacecraft will power on, charge its batteries, and hopefully send telemetry to the ground. During the second phase, Ray will use its onboard propulsion system to slow down the vehicle so it starts losing altitude and reentering the atmosphere. The reentry capsule will separate from the satellite bus (both designed in-house), with the latter structure burning up.The third and final phase will see Ray slow down using a supersonic drogue parachute, from a reentry speed of Mach 1.8 to Mach 0.2. The main parachute will then deploy, further slowing the capsule to a soft splashdown off the coast of California.
The company has a second Otter Pup heading to space in the first half of 2025.
