Saying a few words now.  I think Suni might be crying.   :(

You're right.  She's getting pretty teary-eyed and has her hat pulled down.  I'd probably be doing the same.  Saying farewell to those you've worked and trained with for so long has to be extremely difficult.  Plus she won't see her family and most of her friends for about eight months.

Rieter being honored as an honorary member of the NASA astronaut corps.  "By the power invested in me, which I just invented..." - Mike LA

Wow a lot of applause for him!  Very awesome :)

Crews giving hugs and saying final farewells.  This has to be tough.

Toning the bell.  "Discovery departing."  Shuttle crew leaving station.  Polanksy watching over to make sure they all get on board.  Bell toning again.  "Farewell Expedition 14."  Preparing to close hatches.

Suni is reading this thread on the laptop I suppose :)
In theory, there's no difference between theory and practice, but in practice, there is !

Oefelein giving Discovery's autopilot control over the combined complex to turn the entire stack around here in a bit to the undocking attitude.

For the East Coast flyover one hour after sep, do we know which will be in front? They will only be completing their fly-around.
Undock is CST 4:09, Sep 1 burn 4:38, and sep-2 at 5:06 CST -- so the plume might even be visible to ground observers.

I worked off notes (in the article) which stated:

"For undocking, the station will be maneuvered to LVLH YPR 0,0,0 attitude at 4:09pm and returned to 12A.1 State +XVV TEA attitude at 5:51pm.  Discovery will back away from the ISS PMA-2, then perform a partial flyaround at 400-600 ft.  A 1.5 ft/s separation burn followed at 6:01pm on the -V bar (i.e., behind the ISS), a second at 6:40pm, and a third at a second at 7:15pm, increasingly more powerful."

If that helps :)

Yet another Pulitzer-deserving article from our own Chris Bergin :) It's a darn shame I'll be at work when they come down.  Maybe I can catch it on a news station in the break room.
