I concur with the earlier comment - the other side will have to be retracted during a dedicated space walk - I would expect a much more involved plan with the space walkers taking immediate action to clear snags to get it completely retracted during 1 EVA - I bet they plan for 2 though.

Going to be hard, since the S3/S4 install and getting enough tasks done so the SARJ on S3 can be activated is probably two EVAs as on the last flight.  Based on that, it would look like four EVAs on 13A/STS-117 and I don't think that flight is baselined for 4 EVAs.

When Atlantis goes back with the system to take power from the station (don't recall the name of that system) that should allow for a planned 4 or 5 EVA mission I would think.
Station-Shuttle Power Transfer System / SSPTS -- so far only Endeavour has the mods for it (though apparently the schedule for getting the whole system ready for STS-118 is tight).  Discovery is scheduled to get the mods for that after it gets back to KSC.

Atlantis is not scheduled to get the mods for SSPTS.

Is that Megan in the seat? She noted that the crew are super heros after today and then went into a call for cryo config. Was funny how it was done :)

With the standard disclaimer that I can't promise I'll ask, any questions for the briefing?

I'll pass on the Atlantis STS-117 processing flow question I'd wanna ask. This will be alllllllll about the EVA - and rightly so :)

What do you think of the "hole" in the image on the blanket box? Certainly not convinced it's MMOD....seems to be the only outstanding question, but you can make the call on if that's viable or not.

Any plans to replace the guide wire in the P6 SAW?

This is my question suggestion:
Knowing what you know now about the P6-4B SAW, are you considering making the P6-2B SAW retraction during an EVA on STS-117/13A in March?

More specifically: "In light of the retraction problems on this flight, what changes are you considering for Atlantis' flight in March?"

Good point from Shireman -- these missions are all packed already.  If they want to wedge in more time for the 2B retract on 13A, other tasks are going to get bumped off the timeline.

Nice.

On the landing day question, can you ask it differently, as in "Have the MMT decided on the Thursday option as unviable" (Seen as we know for a fact it was discussed as per MER notes)? Just to get an idea as to why he seemed pretty set in saying Friday.

Robert asked about whether Friday was stil the earliest landing day, and curry forgot to answer.

But i liked curry's comment, "I've been scared of this flight a long time."

That's the only proper attitude!!

Did anyone ask about the hole in the array box?

No, but there was a high res image of some device that was over the spot in question - it has to be the attach point.

Drafted up some of the comments made at the presser:

"This proves out that there's no replacing eyeballs," said John Curry, lead ISS Flight Director. "We got there, I couldn't be happier. Absolutely fantastic. Commander Polansky told me how proud of the crew he was. Great synegy. A great day, absolutely fantastic."

(Fill) The successful retraction wasn't without its hiccups, with the full retraction fighting against the consumbles that were dictating the timeline to get the job done.

"There were times where we thought this was going to be easy, and other times where we thought we would be leaving it with one bay left open," noted Trisha Mack, Lead Spacewalk officer for STS-116.

"When we had it there was the biggest round of applause in the room. Beamer was the smartest person to have on the scene, and we managed 100 percent retraction and all the latches latched.

"This EVA was put together over just a couple of days, when normally it takes about a year."

(Fill) Mack also noted the amussument that their Swedish spacewalker provided, as he counted out his "Swedish Shakes" in English, Swedish, German and French, but to name a few.

"We were also amussed by Christer, who was counting out his shakes in various lanuages."

(Fill) Kirk Shireman, Deputy ISS program manager, summed up the general feeling amoungst the NASA team, speaking of the emotion the agency has been accused of lacking over the years.

"Wow, is about the only thing we can say. It was really an emotional day today," added Shireman. "This crew and this team was able to overcome all the problems, and it was a big day for the ISS program.

"I'm very proud of this team and to be associated with the space program on a day like today."

""This proves out that there's no replacing eyeballs," said John Curry, lead ISS Flight Director"
... or any other kinds of balls, either!
