Well I think we can safely say that the P6 is no longer an issue :)
Only for this flight, Chris.  :) 4B is in, but they gotta get 2B in on 13A...

SABB boxes LATCHED! Awesome! Great teamwork EVA 1 & 2, Discovery STS-116, Station Alpha, MCC-H! The arrays are stowed and locked for storage! Looking forward to seeing this P6 array when it is re-extended (hopefully) in September 2007 on STS-120!

I still don't believe that's MMOD, but even if it is, the amazing thing would be if there were NOT evidence of MMOD hits on the arrays...look back at pictures of Mir solar arrays; there were numerous dings visible in those; of course, they were on orbit a lot longer, but they were also a lot smaller by comparison.

GREAT job by all concerned on the EVA...and on the coverage here, as well. Thanks!

There were two get-aheads mentioned in the procedures today - the arm blanket issue and surveying the other truss.

..........until they have to retract the other array, going to be just as much fun.  At least they will be able to plan an EVA..or 2 for it.

It's going to be interesting to see how they come up with ways to optimize that for the 2B wing on the next flight...and actually, they're sending Christer back to take some pictures of that wing...

Who thinks Beamer should be on the STS-117 crew when they have to retract the other array on P6 in March 2007? I think he deserves a spot!

My guess is the crew of STS117 who has been training for quite a while would disagree...

Who wouldn't go up there to say "go go retract" for a couple of hours ;-)

Thumbs up for them!

ISS Ku audio is crystal clear, shows the evolution of the system from that on the Orbiter

There is no difference

Shape and color is consistent with a shadow. Not a MMOD damage.

A shadow??? Not in a million years. That has MMOD written all over it.

MMOD...

That's not damage. The middle hole is a nutplate, or a cam-lock receptacle, perhaps for attachment of ground handling equipment, etc., etc.. The two smaller holes on either side are the fasteners holding it in place. The rectangular "shadow" is sunbaked tape residue. Either the hole was taped before launch and the tape has peeled away in orbit, or the tape was removed before flight and the tape sticky residue remained. You can see more of the shadows along the closeout angle on the right edge. My bet the blanket box was wrapped with some type of plastic, allumaloy maybe. and then uncovered prior to flight. The shadows are the baked tape residue.

Quick question, once dexter (the Canada hand) is attached to the SSRMS will it be able to do these kind of tasks without having to rely on space walking astronauts?

not really.

Sunrise in two minutes, spacewalk is nearing 6 hours in duration. KU band coverage may be possible in 10 minutes, not 100 % guaranteed based on the FD 10 KU timeline. (this is based on shuttle KU, it appears we have ISS KU now)

i surely hope a MMOD doesn't mean we're out of the frying pan & into the fire.
There's nothing they can do about it.

Bit of foil speed tape lol

 :) what color tape?
Red, white and blue stripy stuff ;)

 :) KU! (did y'know KU=COOL?) whoop whoop.
