I haven't got screen capture ability, but you could just see a great view of Beamer's shadow on Zarya. :)

This continuously looks like the problem I had installing blinds at my house .... except I needed to take the blinds apart to fix the guide wire problem...  a luxury they don't have here.... But the proble has to be in the mechanism that rolls the guide wires in...

Talking about actually cutting the fray off the faulty line.  Real surgery here.

Discussions ongoing...

Sunset on this pass in 13 minutes, 5 minutes of KU band left on TDRS West, may have KU band through ISS after.

why not just shake it to see if the tension returns?  2 hours into the spacewalk.

Yes and no.  They want to cut the fray off of the wire, but not the whole wire itself.

Maybe.

Interesting question is if they get it into the reel - can the get it back out again - how critical is this guide wire to the stability - future usability of the array once it's repositioned.  Frays typically don't get better once you cut the loose piece - it just continues to unravel.

The wire is frayed at one point. Beamer says that there is a 2" piece of that frayed wire sticking perpendicular to the tension cable. That 2" piece is what they're talking about cutting off. They think its getting hung up in the pulley.
