Crew Dragon Question
« on: 04/28/2022 02:26 pm »
So I searched online for an answer to this but could not locate anything.

Does anyone know if Crew Dragon once docked to the ISS for extended stays, will Crew Dragon stay powered up the whole 4-6 months it is docked, or do they power it down since the systems on board are not being used until it gets closer to returning to earth?

Dragon goes into what they call quiescent mode, which is a low power sleep state.
They periodically wake it up to check that everything is still OK.

I don't believe it ever powers completely down during a mission.

And… please correct me… but I believe a short-stay Dragon crew (such as Axiom-1) sleeps in Dragon. So some power (quiescent) remains required.
Long-stay crew (such as Crew-4) enjoys sleeping in ISS crew berths.

Axiom crew didn’t sleep in the Dragon far as I know. Only one so far was a NASA crew member.
