RS EVA Tool Gather Part 2 and Transfer: The crew completed the final USOS EVA tool gathering activity in support of the upcoming RS EVAs #52 and #53. The crew removed the Lithium-Ion EVA Helmet Interchangeable Portable (EHIP) Power Adapter Modules, Helmet Lights, EMU TV, and HD EMU Camera from EMU 3015 and EMU 3004 and placed the hardware into two mesh bags. The crew then transferred the USOS EVA tools, which included these two bags, to the RS.

NASA astronaut Raja Chari is helping two cosmonauts get ready for two spacewalks planned for April to outfit the Nauka multipurpose laboratory module. Chari shared U.S. spacesuit components including helmet lights and cameras to Roscosmos Flight Engineers Oleg Artemyev and Denis Matveev as they organized their spacewalk tools and configured their Orlan spacesuits. The Russian duo is preparing to exit the space station toward the end of the month to outfit Nauka for the station’s third robotic arm, the European robotic arm.

Two cosmonauts continue gearing up for a pair of spacewalks later this month to configure the Nauka multipurpose laboratory module for the European Robotic Arm (ERA). Roscosmos Flight Engineers Oleg Artemyev and Denis Matveev had a fitness test, checked their Orlan spacesuits, and installed pressure tanks in the Poisk module as part of standard pre-spacewalk preparations. Russian Flight Engineer Sergey Korsakov set up hardware to assist the spacewalkers during the ERA work outside Nauka.

NASA's blog post does not name the spacewalk, but it's this one, right?

The big day has come!

The most important event of our entire expedition, and for me personally, was the first spacewalk. Today we will perform it with Oleg Artemyev.[email protected]enis_mks..

Oleg and Denis are working with might and main with spacesuits in the "Search" module. There is about 4 hours left until the exit hatch opens. Today they have to connect the external control panel of the ERA arm, mount three handrails on it and install the portable workstation adapter @serg_korsakov..

NASA TV Covering Station Spacewalk with Two Cosmonauts

Mark Garcia Posted on April 18, 2022

NASA Television coverage is underway of today’s spacewalk with two Russian cosmonauts venturing outside the International Space Station to activate a new robotic arm attached to the Nauka multipurpose laboratory module. Coverage of the spacewalk is on NASA Television, the NASA app, and agency’s website.

Expedition 67 Flight Engineers Oleg Artemyev and Denis Matveev of Roscosmos will conduct this first in a series of spacewalks to activate the European robotic arm, a 37-foot-long manipulator system mounted to the recently arrived Nauka.

During the spacewalk, the cosmonauts will install and connect a control panel for the robotic arm. They also will remove protective covers from the arm and install handrails on Nauka. The arm will be used to move spacewalkers and payloads around the Russian segment of the station. The spacewalks will be staged out of the Poisk module airlock.

Artemyev will wear a Russian Orlan spacesuit with red stripes. Matveev will wear a spacesuit with blue stripes. This will be the fourth spacewalk in Artemyev’s career, and the first for Matveev. It will be the fourth spacewalk at the station in 2022 and the 249th spacewalk for space station assembly, maintenance, and upgrades.

Russian cosmonauts spacewalk postponed by 10-15 minutes.

RSC Energia announced the postponement of the cosmonauts' spacewalk by 10-15 minutes.

04/18/2022 05:32 PM (updated: 04/18/2022 05:38 PM)

MOSCOW, April 18 - RIA Novosti. The spacewalk of Russian cosmonauts Oleg Artemiev and Denis Matveev is delayed by 10-15 minutes, the situation is normal, said Dmitry Akhmerov, Lead Engineer of the Extravehicular Activity Department of RSC Energia, on Monday.

“Locking work is underway. They are delayed a little, it’s okay, a fairly standard operation, somewhere around 10-15 minutes’ delay,” Akhmerov said during the Roscosmos broadcast . He compared such a delay with the situation when a person “straightens his tie a little longer” before going out.

The spacewalk was supposed to begin at 17.25 Moscow time on April 18 and last 6 hours 38 minutes.

Two Cosmonauts Exit Station and Begin Spacewalk

Mark Garcia Posted on April 18, 2022

Expedition 67 Flight Engineers Oleg Artemyev and Denis Matveev of Roscosmos began Russian spacewalk 52 at 11:01 a.m. EDT to activate a new robotic arm attached to the Nauka multipurpose laboratory module at the International Space Station by opening the hatch of the Poisk docking compartment airlock.

Artemyev is wearing a Russian Orlan spacesuit with red stripes. Matveev will wear a spacesuit with blue stripes. This is the fourth spacewalk in Artemyev’s career, and the first for Matveev. It will be the fourth spacewalk at the station in 2022 and the 249th spacewalk for space station assembly, maintenance, and upgrades.

Coverage of the spacewalk continues on NASA Television, the NASA app, and the agency’s website.

The duo’s primary tasks for today’s spacewalk are to install and connect a control panel for the European robotic arm, a 37-foot-long manipulator system mounted to the recently arrived Nauka. They will also remove protective covers from the arm and install handrails on Nauka. The arm will be used to move spacewalkers and payloads around the Russian segment of the station.
