Spacelaunchreport.com to close
« on: 03/29/2022 08:51 pm »
I was really sad to read that Ed Kyle is no longer going to maintain his excellent website www.spacelaunchreport.com
I can understand his reasons but I will certainly miss it hugely. I'm not aware of any other resource which provides this level of information so accurately and in such an accessible form.

I just wanted to go on record to say thanks to him for what he did, and to raise the point that the spaceflight community will miss the site.

What can we do to replace it or in some way to keep it going?

Someone would have to make an arrangement to acquire it or pay for the domain to make it a non updating static website that functions as an archive. There are ways to do it. My railroad club paid family to acquire the website domains and personal collections of two deceased photographers/railroad retirees since their families had no interest on carrying on their legacy.

I was upset too. Space Launch Report was one of my go-to sites.

On the bright side, Ed told me that I can go to the Internet Archive site and scroll through any captures of the website pages taken over the years.

Some are dated long ago, others were very recent.

You’re basically pretending the website was never closed.

Yep, very sad to read about it as well. One of my frequent sites to visit to keep track of recent launches.

Thanks for all the work you put into the site, Ed!

Drats. WTH is happening ? was a damn fine resource - loved the unflown Titans page. Also the Long March stage details not found elsewhere.

Space Launch Report Updates
Thought I would try a monthly update for awhile, posted here for now.  This generally updates what used to be the annual log page on my Space Launch Report web site.  I'll attach the bigger update here as a *.txt file, but post abbreviated "Box Score" and "Reliability" sections in the message.  Note that Falcon 9 v1.2 just recently surpassed Soyuz-U in terms of the Adjusted Wald 95% Confidence Interval lower bound (0.97 versus 0.96), though on only 130 launches compared to Soyuz-U's 776.  Could  v1.2 end up the most reliable orbital launch vehicle yet developed?  Given how hard SpaceX is pushing its schedule these days, the company seems intent on finding the answer to that question.
