It was nice to be back in my own bed after a busy few weeks on the road. I am really lucky to spend so much time with organizations that are making such an impact on the world. - @StJude We completed a 5 day orbit around the world this past week and derived Starlinks and met some patients, but that was really just the start. The single biggest factor in determining the survival of a childhood cancer diagnosis is where you are born in the world. It should not be that way. There are more ways to help and we will. - @Shift4 continues to win and overcome whatever challenges are thrown our way. Our journey to power payments all over the world is filled with opportunity and plenty of challenges. As a public company, you have those cheering for and against you. It is part of the job and I personally find the critics very motivational.- @SpaceX once again captured the world's attention & imagination with the Starship orbital flight test. We are one step closer to a major capability to explore, understand, work and maybe inhabit other parts of our solar system. When Starship succeeds it will be another evolutionary leap for humankind. - @PolarisProgram is progressing really well. We have been working on EVA operation & suit development runs, joint simulations and getting closer towards suit qualifications. There has also been a fair amount of progress towards an eventual Polaris II mission. We are getting closer! Even squeezed in a bit of time to pull G's, fly upside down, see some ancient wonders of the world and take the family to a couple of Broadway plays. Back at it this week. Boldly Forward.
Given where things stand now, @rookisaacman, does a summer launch for the Polaris Dawn mission still look possible? Could your team’s mission launch between the Boeing CFT in July and Crew-7 in August? Thanks!
I am optimistic late summer is still a real possibility. That is what we are training towards.
EVA training continues this month for the Polaris Dawn crew at @SpaceX’s headquarters in Hawthorne, California 🚀

Great thread on an important experiment @KiddPoteet will be undertaking on Polaris Dawn. Thanks for covering it @FelixSchlang
🚀 Meet Scott Poteet, pilot for the Polaris Dawn mission, a private human spaceflight set to launch in late 2023. This mission, operated by @SpaceX, is all about pushing boundaries and conducting vital research. In fact much of the planned research is dedicated to human health.
@KiddPoteet isn't just along for the ride. He's part of multiple experiments looking at the effects of microgravity on brain pressure during long space flights. Why? Well, an increase in brain pressure can cause headaches, vision problems, and other health issues.
🧠 This series of experiments is all about a condition called Spaceflight Associated Neuro-Ocular Syndrome (SANS). In simple terms, SANS is a health risk that astronauts face during long-duration spaceflights.
🛠️ How does the experiment work? Poteet will undergo surgery for the insertion of a catheter in the spinal space within his spine. The inserted catheter is linked to a sensor, mounted beneath one of Poteet’s ribs, which will be used to measure fluid pressures in orbit.
🤯Fascinating, right? Poteet won't just be taking measurements in orbit, but also before and after the mission. Interestingly, this device was initially only approved in Europe for patients with hydrocephalus, but the SpaceX team recently secured FDA approval.
📈This valuable data will advance both human health on Earth and help us understand the impact of pressure on the brain in long-duration spaceflights. There's no question we'll need to solve this issue before we can venture into long-term visits to the Moon, Mars and beyond!
🏆Lastly, this procedure is the FIRST invasive intracranial pressure experiment approved by NASA, so we can't wait to see what Poteet and team at SpaceX Polaris Dawn accomplish! 👏
Guess Poteet isn't likely to do an EVA during the Polaris Dawn mission.

I couldn't help but notice that this mission is delayed per every three months for another three months.

One wonders if the issue launch scheduling with higher priority missions bumping it back, general training issues, EVA training issues, or readiness of the EVA suit? Or all of these?
