Aki and me walking to our Dragon, before launch The @SpaceX ninjas you see around us did a fantastic job, thanks! We look determined…and maybe sad to leave Earth and our loved ones behind, or just tired. It feels like we left Earth long ago and it was just 3 days!@SpaceX

Shane shaving in space

There are so many people onboard that Shane has to keep sleeping in Dragon: he doesn’t have a crew quarter on International Space Station! Here he is shaving. We used our tablets in selfie camera mode as mirrors and thought we were smart... before we realised NASA and SpaceX had packed tiny real shaving mirrors in our hygiene kit in the capsule!

Dragon over desert

Here’s a view we’ll miss: our very own spacecraft (technically it’s owned by SpaceX/NASA but hey we are the ones flying in it :). Not because Endeavour will go anywhere: it will be here the entire duration of our stay: it’s our lifeboat if things go wrong, and it will bring us back to Earth in the fall when the mission is accomplished. We’ll miss this view because it was taken from the other Crew Dragon "Resilience" that was docked on the zenith port (looking up away from Earth) of the International Space Station… with its windows conveniently pointing straight to our vehicle. Crew-1 left for Earth on Sunday in Crew Dragon Resilience and took with them the window to our spacecraft. We miss them and the view, but happy to know they are back with their families and friends enjoying showers and more Earthly delights!

Our Dragon is comfortably docked with the International @Space_Station. 🐉💤 Did you know dragons hibernate? We leave it there for six months before waking it up to take us back home... #MissionAlpha flic.kr/p/2kXBeFk

Two minutes on Google maps showed me that this was taken over the west coast of the Red Sea looking south just north of Port Sudan.

Views from our Crew Dragon Endeavour’s window. You may have heard I am currently sleeping in Endeavour until the new sleep station is ready to go onboard the @Space_Station. Talk about a room with a view!

Gregory Manchess has designed all of the NASA mission patches for the operational Crew missions.

This post on his blog shows the process he used to develop the Crew-2 patch.

MEDIA ADVISORY M21-082

NASA TV to Air Crew Dragon Port Relocation on Space Station

NASA’s SpaceX Crew-2 astronauts on the International Space Station will relocate their Crew Dragon Endeavour spacecraft Wednesday, July 21, setting the stage for a historic first when two different U.S. commercial spacecraft built for crew will be docked to the microgravity laboratory at the same time.

Live coverage will begin at 6:30 a.m. EDT on NASA Television, the NASA app, and the agency’s website.

NASA astronauts Shane Kimbrough and  Megan McArthur, JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) astronaut Akihiko Hoshide, and ESA (European Space Agency) astronaut Thomas Pesquet will board the Crew Dragon spacecraft about 4:30 a.m. and undock from the forward port of the station’s Harmony module at 6:45 a.m. The spacecraft will dock again at the station’s space-facing port at 7:32 a.m.

The relocation will free up Harmony’s forward port for the docking of Boeing’s CST-100 Starliner spacecraft, scheduled for launch Friday, July 30, as part of NASA’s Boeing Orbital Flight Test-2 (OFT-2) mission. The flight will test the end-to-end capabilities of Starliner from launch to docking, atmospheric re-entry, and a desert landing in the western United States. The uncrewed mission will provide valuable data about Boeing’s crew transportation system, and help NASA certify Starliner and the United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket for regular flights with astronauts to and from the space station.

This will be the second port relocation of a Crew Dragon spacecraft. NASA’s SpaceX Crew-2 mission lifted off April 23 from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida and docked to the space station April 24. Crew-2, targeted to return in early-to-mid November, is the second of six certified crew missions NASA and SpaceX have planned as a part of the agency’s Commercial Crew Program.

Weren't Resilience and Endeavour both docked at the ISS simultaneously between 24 April and 2 May earlier this year?

Two different US spacecraft. The closest the US has ever gotten to two simultaneous crew vehicles in operation was between Gemini XII and Apollo 1 (a little over 3 months gap).

Clarification: two different US spacecraft makes/models
