Author Topic: SpaceX F9 : Transporter-3 Rideshare : CCSFS SLC-40 : 13 January 2022 (1525 UTC)  (Read 210251 times)

Going to make a very rough guess that B1052.3 will be used, 60 is getting the Starlink launch tomorrow for its 10th flight, and I would imagine for a customer payload they wouldn’t want to risk the mission with one of the life leaders. Also, B1052 was spotted with a stage 2 already integrated, meaning it should be good to go. Would watch out for the very high chance of a firing early next week if 52 is indeed being used considering this core has not seen flight in a while and is the first core to see flight after being converted from heavy.

For your kind information  60 will still be waiting for its 10 flight as 62 is launching today's starlink not 60

Any news of Starlink satellites on this launch?

Till it gets overweight that is not certainly the case,  it is like announcing the booster assignment on a SpaceX mission as I am certain that SpaceX will launch starlink or will try to launch starlink sats on these Transporter missions mission. Some may argue that SpaceX is again rapidly launching starlink then why launch on a Transporter. This is because SpaceX hasn't  launched a dedicated starlink mission to 97.5° inclination or a similar high inclination orbit. Max is 70°. This may be due to faa so they are launching it in Transporters till they get full faa permission for that orbit. So stay calm atleast a mission like tintin containing 2 starlink sats (Transporter 2 was similar with +1 sat) will launch on this mission.

This is false, they have the permission to launch into all orbital planes.

Why there have been no dedicated launches to 97.6° orbits is another thing. I have no confirmed information, but most probably it's not a priority right now, as they have most of the potential paying clients in the low-to-mid latitudes. The closer to the poles, the smaller number of potential clients. They will need them eventually of course for the full global coverage.

Is this going to be a return to LZ1 or is that still unclear?

The landing will be in LZ-1, also satellite images show that work has been done in the last days in this area and it seems that the crane that will secure the booster is also already in this area.

Oh so the reason for adding starlink on Transporters is due to low need of satellites at that inclination rather that faa permission-based thank you

Will there be a Static Fire for Transporter-3?

My >guesses<

Yes, if it's a 10th flight of a booster 1050 or later.
1051.11 static fired one day before its Vandenberg launch last month.
1058.10
1060.10

Yes, if it's 1049.12, a use before its deduced, final, expendable flight in the coming months.

Yes, if it's 1052.3, following its refurbishment from Falcon Heavy side booster to single stick.

No, if it's 1061.6 or (not enough time for refurbishment?) 1067.4.

Edit January 13: 1058.10, no Static Fire, successful launch and LZ-1 return to launch site landing.

I was wrong about the Static Fire. :)

1051.12 and 1063.4 are at Vandenberg.

(But, yes, thought must be given to Vandenberg's next Falcon launch as well.)

It's been a looooooong while since the last time a used booster went through McGregor. Like about 4 years at least

Sorry for my upcoming question barrage...  Starlink 2-1, B1049.10, 12 days after landing was seen near McGregor (Reagan Beck.  Coincidence?).  I correlated the two, when I see now of course they were going to refurbish it at Roberts Road.  In the Block 5 era, only one booster (B1048) has launched back to back west coast missions (#1 July 2018 & #2 Oct 2018).  The rest have all launched their following mission from the East Coast.  Does SpaceX do this because they don't want to staff refurbishment facilities at two locations?  Or has there just been such a high demand from Florida?
