10 minutes assessing what happened. We're not scrubbed for the day yet.

Decision on launch in about 10 minutes.

I thought that the abort process flow was very professional, they all sounded a little nervous until the abort and then they executed like pros.

Well done.

I'm beginning to think that Space X is just an elaborate hoax.

Yes.... They NEVER delay a shuttle launch... Through rain, sleet, HAIL, WOODPECKERS.....

Sounds like it was an automatic abort.  If they're trying to figure out what caused it.

Yeah, the Falcon 1 is really just a giant paper tube with some dry ice in it. They try a "launch attempt" every few months to keep the COTS people happy... :)

Simon ;)

Now this very uncalled for.

Aye.  Very uncalled for.  They suffered a massive failure last time and they have taken very extreme measures to protect their new investment and make sure it flies safely.  They are an up and coming space agency that are trying to find their feet with the Falcon rocket.  The US space agency suffered many more failures when they were starting back in the 1950s.  Think about that and remember 'better safe than sorry.'

a paper tube with dry ice would still be more than a lot of this kind of company has ever been able to build. SpaceX has made more progress than so many other companiesi n the last 20 years.

I heard the problem was range telemetry. I assume some sort of communication problem.

Could that mean that the boat has got into the recovery area again?

I kind of liked the way they did that -  just a calm stop of the terminal count, and not quite as heart-stopping as hearing "Hold! Hold Hold!".

They likely went through the same thing (full count without an actual launch) the other day with the engine test, so I'd just think of this (if they aren't able to recycle for another full count/launch today) as just another training exercise.

Q: Was this hold automatic, or did someone initiate it?
A: We basically have added additional aborts into the countdown sequence, and they are triggered autonomously.
At about a minute and a half out from launch we shift from communicating to the vehicle from the land line to the range RF, and it's possible we weren't able to [get the RF]
