Intelsat rolls out network service that integrates Starlink and geostationary satellitesQuote from: SpaceNewsIf you can’t beat them, join them. That is the thinking behind a new managed network service offered by satellite operator Intelsat that integrates geostationary satellites, SpaceX’s Starlink low Earth orbit constellation and cellular broadband. “A lot of our customers would like to use Starlink and many have been using it,” Don Claussen, Intelsat’s vice president of business development, told SpaceNews at last week’s Satellite 2022 conference. Satellite communications companies “spend so much time fighting each other over what orbits are better, what band is better,” he said. “If we’re really listening to our customers, what they are saying is ‘we kind of need all of you.’”

It only becomes useful when the same terminal can use the same antenna to communicate with both types of satellite. It only becomes truly useful when an integrated system allows for near-seamless switchover.
It appears that the Philippines is favorably processing Starlink's application to provide service through a wholly-owned subsidiary. 3 gateways planned at this time.https://www.usnews.com/news/world/articles/2022-03-31/spacex-to-launch-starlink-satellite-service-in-the-philippines
Vodafone Ukraine reports that it managed to restore mobile communication in liberated Irpin and Romanivka, Kyiv Oblast, thanks to @SpaceX's Starlink equipment provided by @elonmusk"This is the first time in the history of Ukraine and the second case in the world when the functionality of a part of the mobile operator's network has been organized with the help of Starlink satellite technologies."https://www.pravda.com.ua/news/2022/04/2/7336511/
USAID SAFEGUARDS INTERNET ACCESS IN UKRAINE THROUGH PUBLIC-PRIVATE-PARTNERSHIP WITH SPACEXFor Immediate ReleaseTuesday, April 5, 2022Office of Press Relations[email protected]The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has delivered 5,000 Starlink Terminals to the Government of Ukraine through a public-private partnership with the American aerospace manufacturer, SpaceX, a private sector donation valued at roughly $10 million.SpaceX donated 3,667 terminals and the internet service itself, and USAID purchased the additional 1,333 terminals. The Starlink satellite terminals will enable unlimited, unthrottled data connectivity from anywhere in Ukraine. The terminals will allow public officials and critical citizen service providers to continue to communicate within Ukraine and with the outside world, even if Putin’s brutal aggression severs Ukraine’s fiber optic or cellular communication infrastructure connections.Since Putin’s unprovoked, further invasion of Ukraine on February 24, USAID has been working closely with humanitarian partners in Ukraine and in the region to reach Ukrainians with lifesaving humanitarian assistance while also ramping up development programs to respond to cyber attacks, disinformation, threats to the energy sector, essential health needs, and to support the continued functioning of local and national government entities. For citizens who want to help get vital assistance to Ukrainians in need, there’s one thing to remember: cash is best. That’s because it’s efficient, flexible, and allows humanitarian organizations on the ground to buy what’s most needed, quickly. Specialist of a local provider NomeNet is installing @SpaceXStarlink station in Liubech, Chernihiv oblast. The village was occupied by RU and cut from UA. This man bypassed many mined roads to reach the village, and now its citizens have access to the world.
Here's an interesting announcement from USAID, a government agency...QuoteUSAID SAFEGUARDS INTERNET ACCESS IN UKRAINE THROUGH PUBLIC-PRIVATE-PARTNERSHIP WITH SPACEXFor Immediate ReleaseTuesday, April 5, 2022Office of Press Relations[email protected]The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has delivered 5,000 Starlink Terminals to the Government of Ukraine through a public-private partnership with the American aerospace manufacturer, SpaceX, a private sector donation valued at roughly $10 million.SpaceX donated 3,667 terminals and the internet service itself, and USAID purchased the additional 1,333 terminals. A bunch more Starlink terminals were also bought and donated by Poland and France - by now Ukraine might have around 8K terminals.
Romania can welcome @SpaceX #Starlink service, and we are also seeing cells opening up in areas of Brazil. Mexico has had a large chunk of southern territory activated too, well done!
Elon Musk’s satellite-internet business is pushing to provide wireless internet on airplanes—long a source of frustration among travelers—with at least one major carrier, Delta Air Lines Inc., testing the offering. The Atlanta-based airline has held talks with SpaceX’s broadband unit, called Starlink, and conducted exploratory tests of Starlink’s technology, Delta Chief Executive Ed Bastian said in a recent interview. He declined to discuss specifics.
Is Starlink that important? It wouldn't be possible to restore 10 km of cable connection between villages in Chernigiv region after serious battles so quick. Normally it takes few months. Another case: provider Baryshivka-Net resumed the network for 5 villages by using only 1 📡.
