STS-41D paper model of Discovery
« on: 01/18/2020 05:10 am »
Hello guys! First time posting here and i'm so happy to announce that i'm about to finish a paper model of Discovery's maiden voyage! I modified an AXM Model (which btw, are so accurate and detailed) and i'm closer to get a retracting landing gear and opening/closing bay doors! I also created a "3D" version of the RCS to give the depth of the thrusters and of the star tracker.

I also made the cockpit and mid deck, with the astronauts seats and control panels and the hatch, which can be opened and closed, and for the "tile texture", i printed the model on a textured paper (which is cardstock) and i'm adding a layer of white glue so it can be shiny... Once i'm finish, i'd share pictures with you guys! So excited to hear your thoughts on this model!

Stay safe, everyone!

Welcome to the forum! I've moved your thread to the Spaceflight Entertainment and Hobbies section where other model threads live.

Good luck with your modeling

Hello everyone! I’ve finished it and here are some photos, I did some editing of the photos to get a realistic feeling!

Here’s also a photo of the cockpit detail prior to gluing the cabin windows. I’m planning on taking more photos of the model to get a great shot at it!

PS: i think I’m in the modeling and hobbies section of the website, it’s kinda difficult to know as I’m uploading these from the phone.
