ISS Gingerbread model
« on: 12/24/2019 01:38 am »
I made a gingerbread "house" of the ISS! Originally I was planning to make more of it out of gingerbread, but it ended up only being the solar arrays. I wanted to make my model to scale, while also being edible. I ended up with a scale of 0.18 inches per meter, or 1:219. All the pressurized modules are represented except the ones that hang below, and the Quest airlock. I added the external platform to Kibo, plus its remote manipulator robot arm. Apologies to ITS fans, the whole truss is just a bunch of Toblerone bars. I did manage to include all the thermal radiator panels, except for the parts that stick out below the PMs. More pictures and explanation on my blog https://altairspace.com/2019/12/23/the-international-space-station-and-an-attempt-at-gingerbread-modelling/. Happy holidays!

Very nice!

Here is my take on SpaceX Starship (video below).
Somehow this cookie rocketry has now become more of a yearly tradition for me...
