There has not been a cosmonaut assignments update since April. Does anyone have an update? Thanks.

In the Black Sea near Sevastopol cosmonauts from Russia, Canada and the Netherlands are training….

“During one week we train two crew, which include not only Russian cosmonauts, but one astronaut each from Canada and Holland. They come to replace another two crews, who are also within seven days will be trained,” emphasized Gidzenko.

Do you know the composition of the four training crews?

I think that it will be announced later this month.

Actually, during sea training there were six crews consisted of cosmonauts from Russia, USA, Canada, Netherlands and Australia. One crew consisted of Misurkin, Tikhonov and Coleman. Garriott and Halik also trained in these crews.

Salizhan Sharipov and Yuriy Shargin will soon leave the cosmonaut detachment.

Kazakhstan cosmonauts Aydyn Aimbetov and Mukhtar Aymakhanov have finished the training in GCTC in July and await possible assignment into the crew of Soyuz TMA-16 spacecraft. This assignment depends on result of negotiations between Roskosmos and Kazkosmos.

So where does this leave Mr. Gruzdev? Will he have to wait until 2011 for his flight?

I'm also curious that anik has posted in the ISS events thread that the slot is also available for a Space Adventures SFP (tourist). This would seem to contradict earlier press release from them stating that they only had two more slots (Soyuz TMA-14 and 15) and following this would buy one entire Soyuz flight per year starting in 2011.

Nowhere. I was told he will not fly at all. I believe it was usual PR action before elections into our State Duma last year.

In this year Roskosmos has offered Kazkosmos the performing of spaceflight of Kazakhstan cosmonaut in October 2009. Negotiations between Roskosmos and Kazkosmos are continuing currently. If Kazkosmos will not agree then there is possibility of flight of spaceflight participant from Space Adventures.

That would be great news! Then the "missing cosmonaut" issue is dealt with and the Canadian Thirsk can return with the previous crew. Hope that the agreement pans out.

The back-up for Frank De Winne for the second European long-term mission to the ISS in May 2009 will be André Kuipers, ESA astronaut of Dutch nationality.

So they changed it ??

Chris Hadfield will be backup for ISS commander Frank de Winne. De Winne will command ISS from October till November 2009. But Andre Kuipers will be backup for Soyuz TMA-15 flight engineer Frank de Winne.

So, I suppose that if De Winne, for any reasons, will not depart on Soyuz TMA-15, also Thirsk will not do it.
Am I totally wrong?
