"Short" training of candidates for cosmonauts

Today in the training complex 179 Emergency Center of Russia held a training session in preparation for the astronauts and cosmonaut candidates to action after landing on the water surface.  The third conditional crew of candidates for cosmonauts Alexei Homenchuka, Sergei Kud-Sverchkova and Dennis Matveyev was the so-called "short" training.

According to her condition after the splashdown of the crew detects leaks in the Descent Module (SA), through which water rapidly enters.  With a little slack to flood the SA, the astronauts must:

Take blocks of portable emergency reserve (NAE) and leave the CA;

Gather on the water in the group;

work out of the evacuation and interact with search and rescue service.

The purpose of the "short" training for astronauts - an emergency leave SA in suits. "Short" training lasts 30 minutes.

Before the test, the commander of the third conventional crew Homenchuk Alex says: "The crew is ready to work.  In a good mood,  We were lucky with the weather - today it is great! "His friend in the crew, Sergei Kud-Sverchkov adds:" The test is important, though short.  We are calm and confident, thanks to the good theoretical training, and experience of the previous exercise. "

After successful completion of training Homenchuk Alex smiled: "The actions of the crew were very quick, competent, clear. All have done well - and due to the fact that we are well taught, and because the crew worked very smoothly! "

Head of test and training brigade, Colonel Alexander CPC Herman commented the past exercise: "In this test, candidates must meet the astronauts certain time frame. The crew came through with a task and fulfill all the requirements. "

Soyuz TMA-08M (launch - March 2013):
CDR - Pavel Vinogradov (Oleg Kotov)
FE1 - Aleksandr Misurkin (Sergey Ryazanskiy)
FE2 - Chris Cassidy (Michael Hopkins)

I'd like to know if TMA-08M crew is correct as listed.
Vinogradov will be ISS CDR but I think Misurkin, an AF Pilot will be the Soyuz CDR.

I know the Russians are flying a lot of combinations for CDR-FE1: two Engineers (TMA-01M), AirForce+Foreigner (TMA-16 or TMA-20), two AirForce (TMA-22), Engineer+Foreigner (TMA-03M)...
The only one time (I think), that flew an Engineer as CDR, and AirForce as FE1 was in the Soyuz T-14 return and was due to Vasyutin's illness.

Times have changed.
Vinogradov is an experienced cosmonaut and Misurkin is a rookie.

Anyone have additional information on the switch to Revin next year?

If one goes to www.astronaut.ru and for non-Russian speakers (like me), run Google translate, you can find a lot of information on cosmonaut training and status. Regarding Valkov, his biography states:

"In spring 2011, anthropometric constraints removed from the backup crew of "Soyuz TMA-22» (№ 232) and the main crew of "Soyuz TMA-04M» (№ 704) and replaced by Sergei Revin"

It is not clear what the "anthropometric constraints" are; he obviously must have been able to fit in a Soyuz at the time of his 1997 selection. Perhaps there are changes in the Soyuz TMA-M version? It is also unclear whether this is temporary or permanent, but he has not been named to any subsequent crew through 2014.

A few months ago, I saw Valkov's photo and it looked like he'd gained some weight. So, that could be the reason. BTW, that photo is on this forum, taken by Satori.

I'm not confused, Rui, I know Valkov's on the right. But to me, he looked a little on the plump side.

Interesting comments by Vladimir Popovkin at the Soyuz TMA-22 launch:

"Russian Space Agency head Vladimir Popovkin said the agency was actively recruiting women to become cosmonauts. Only one woman is now in training and Popovkin told journalists at Baikonur that he was determined to send her into orbit, Russian news agencies reported."

Hi, Jacqmans.
Have you notice of the patch on the right shoulder?  It seems their class patch.
Do you have a better caption?

Posted by Shams on the manned flight section of the NK forum ( http://www.novosti-kosmonavtiki.ru/phpBB2/ ) about the new cosmonaut selection:

Quote

Web translation:

April 30th TsPK completed the acceptance of applications. Competition Commission must complete its work by September 1, 2012 and submit it to the MBK selected applicants. All of them should have a tolerance of the Chief Medical Commission (GMK) to spetstrenirovkam at TsPK. Until such approval received (April 5, 2012), only one applicant - a military pilot, Captain Andrey Fedyaev, he served on the Kamchatka Peninsula.
The next meeting of GMK scheduled on June 5. It will be submitted at least two of the applicant (both employees of the TsPK), which are now completing the passage of medical examination. And probably in August will be another meeting of the GMK, which will consider all the remaining candidates. That's it. All who pass GMK, and then will be presented at MBK.
I wonder how many of them will be a contest. After all, if you go to the MBK 5 people, it means that all five of them, and enroll in the unit. But if they would be for example 10, there will be competition and will select the MBK. Krikalev said that if there are strong candidates, the unit may be credited up to 7 people.

And yet, the candidates of 2010 recruitment will take the state exams in the second half of July.
