Starting a thread about the next proposed observatory in the Spektr series, coming after Spektr-R (Spectrum-Radio, recently deceased after surpassing its mission objectives), Spektr-RG (Spectrum-Roentgen/Gamma, recently launched and on its way to L2), and Spektr-UF (Spectrum-UltraViolet, a.k.a. WSO-UV, in construction and expected to be launched in 2023).

They received help from Japanese company for a key instrument of this telescope...

Quote
"We have worked with the UK firm since 2012 and it used to sell [the Russian Academy of Sciences] carbon fiber for panels on the Spektr-M observatory's antenna. However, the company was bought out by Americans, who have been writing us 'warm' letters over the past year", Likhacheva said, implying that the new US owners were not open to export its materials to Russia.

The project page at NPO Lavochkin.

https://www.laspace.ru/projects/astrophysics/spectrum-m/

mass Spektr-M: 6600 kg
Launch date after 2025
Launcher: Angara-5/KVTK or Proton-M/Bris-M

For the Angara-5 the hydrogen upper stage "KVTK" will be necessary?

Real "iron" also looks interesting

there is big site about Spektr-M, even in english:

https://millimetron.ru/en/

also, launch date 2029, not 2025

The website "Steven Pietrobon's Space Archive" does not list a launch vehicle for the planned Spektr-M launch.

I found this 2019 TASS report saying that the Spektr-M observatory is scheduled for launch no earlier than 2030.

The relevant paragraph. The 2030 date seems to be speculation.

"The scientist said, however, that the Spektr-M observatory might be launched no sooner than 2030 due to cuts in financing under the Spektr-M program in 2019."
