is it just me or is the show getting unrealistic at this point
hi! I am a 13 year old neurodivergent individual, although I can understand most things adults can too. I  have been interested in space since I was 5. Although I still have a lot to learn, I try my hardest to understand others, although sometimes I might not, so please correct me if I do not listen to others. thanks!

I love it and just roll with it because, let’s face it, it became unrealistic in season one when they had Ted Kennedy elected president. Oh wait… https://www.reddit.com/r/PropagandaPosters/comments/153504u/if_ted_kennedy_drove_a_volkswagen_hed_be/?rdt=36612

at this point season 4 is just going to be the dollar store version of the expanse

I love it and just roll with it because, let’s face it, it became unrealistic in season one when they had Ted Kennedy elected president.

In the For All Mankind universe, the Chappaquiddick Incident never happened in July 1969, because Teddy had to stay in Washington to run hearings about how Apollo lost the moon race (because the fictional version of Apollo 10 didn't land when it had the chance.) Teddy wins the Presidency in 1972, but at some point he gets caught in a sex scandal with Mary Jo Kopechne (who died at Chappaquiddick in the real universe.) He loses his reelection bid in 1976 to Ronald Reagan, who becomes President four years earlier than in the real universe.

In 1972, a no-Chappaquiddick Teddy Kennedy would have been a much more formidable opponent to Richard Nixon that George McGovern was (my cat would have been a better opponent, too, however) so it really isn't a stretch that Teddy could have been President.

So I'm reading the Sunday Edition of The NY Times and the back page of the Sunday Opinion section is a full page ad from "Helios Aerospace" which states "We Want You on Mars," "Discover Exciting New Career Paths With Us On The Red Planet".  "www.welcometohelios.com" Plus there's a QR code to "learn more."

This ad looks 100% as if Helios is real. Of course it's just a way to hype the upcoming season, but I think it's going to confuse a lot of folks.

To me it's sort of surprising in that the season opener is quite a ways off, and this seems like a big push/splash for this show, which I'm a big fan of, but I consider it sort of a niche product.

Yeah, and an ad in the New York Times?

Here it is.

The constellation worked so well they launched an updated version, Iridium NEXT. The original company went bankrupt.

Well, you need Iridium to stabilize the power of a Tesseract, you know, in case you want to open a wormhole so the Chitauri can invade Earth. But they are on Mars, so yeah, kind of a head scratcher...  ;)
If we don't continuously lower the cost to access space, how are we ever going to afford to expand humanity out into space?

The article says it is used to make crucibles that are used in the Czochralski process to make silicon and sapphire ingots. Those are used to make wafers for semiconductor production.

A niche product to say the least.  We don't even both mining on Earth, except for a handful of small alluvial deposits.  Most iridium is a by-product of nickel mining.

Anyone who seriously suggests we should mine the asteroids for iridium really needs to have some remedial lessons in ecologic geology and mineral economics.
Apologies in advance for any lack of civility - it's unintended

Well season 3 (or was it season 2 ?) imagined a lunar conflict related to He3. Doesn't makes more sense than that iridum thing. But it's a TV show, so - suspension of disbelief, etc. etc.

Fact is that in the real world there is no "silver bullet" space resource not already present on Earth solid ground at 1000000000 times lower cost than mining it in space.
