Might be a bit like the part of the new Endeavour re-entry from the top windows, rotated 90 degrees. PMed Chris to take a clip for here.

Hard to believe that STS-125, in about a year, will be the last time this orbiter returns from space.

So where do I go to actually get this 355 Mwg video? I'm a new member of L2 and just trying to figure out how this L2 works.

I prefer STS-88 re-entry on L2. That one has the sparks literally flying.

So cool...but after the Soyuz launch today, I was wondering if anyone has recorded re-entry on that vehicle?

Don't believe so, but orbiter re-entries are more interesting

I think it would be dangerous to try to capture Soyuz re-entry with a handheld camera - it would get thrown around at parachute opening, and if it wasn't 100% secured to a fixture or stowage area at landing, it could kill at touchdown. Also, the state of Soyuz windows is unknown - do they get smudged?

If you enjoyed the teaser, you really should get on L2 and watch the entire 2 hours.

Exactly, I still think the Endeavour re-entry video is my favorite.
There's a trailer for the 2hr video here for non L2ers (why? Are you crazy??

I've been thinking about that too. The superb re-entry video for Gemini and Apollo now on the new L2 Historical section show it's a fixed camera, but the views out of the window are still stunning.
