A new thread on 9ifly Chinese space forum announces a launch to GTO from Xichang on December 25. There is no identification of the payload.

Possibly TL-2 Tianlian-2 (1)?

The use of the CZ-3C/G2 vs. the CZ-3B/G2, used for the first two TJS s/c, would imply a less massive GEO-bound payload this time?

For some reason, I'm getting high resolution for this video. Normally, the resolution is pretty low.

Probably Y16, I'm guessing?

Turns out to be Y17. (maybe Y16 is for the last BDS-2 satellite launch rumored next month?)

Also some more photos (Wang Yulei/Xinhua) - interesting to see that these guys have given up stating any  "mission purpose" for this one in the official launch notice.  ;)

Now in GEO at 58.9°E.

A third object (also in GEO) was also catalogued as 43917.

From public reports, SAST is the satellite builder - and so far every GEO satellite they built aren't for communications (except for TJS-2 as claimed :ahem:).

There's a public paper showing plans for an all elecric propulsion SAST-5000 based satellite, with the mass given as 2.7 tonnes - which fits with the rocket used.

This news article mentions the satellite will test "double satellites co-position communications" as well as "multi-frequency & high speed communications". This sounds awfully like a "proximity operations" satellite so watch out for it!  ;)

Fast transfer from GTO to GEO (5 days max) doesn't fit to an all-electric platform.

Maybe the electric propulsion would just be used for station keeping in the GEO belt.
And maybe object 43917 was an apogee motor to get it to GEO.

Well, Object C/2018-110C/43917 appears to have performed some maneuvers and is now geostationnary at 59.07° ie 0.14° East from TJS-3, a distance of about 100 km
Could Object C be involved in "co-located satellite communications" (卫星主要用于开展双星共位通信) ?

Object C is slowly drifting West, so that its distance to TJS-3 could at this time (Jan 5, 22:00 UTC) be down to 58 km

With TLEs available only today (my local  time) for Object C at epoch Jan 4 and 5, it appears that its drift was reduced and the distance between the two objects was 92 km as of January 5 at 15:32 UTC
