Any chance we get to see this, the first crewed Dragon 2 flight to the ISS, be docked to the ISS at the same time as the last Dragon 1 cargo resupply for CRS-20? I feel like that'd be a really nice send off for Dragon 1, and show the progress SpaceX has made with their capsules over the last many years. Just a thought, as if current launch dates stand I see it as possible...

I don't think Crew-1 can be launched into the DM-2 vehicle is back and goes through cert review.  And even if they figure a way to do that, right now the crewed vehicles can only go to Node 2 forward.  Zenith is still down the road.

What is the Zenith port lacking?  It should be used for SpX-21 in the fall, and if they want to do direct handovers for the crew flights they'll need to have both working.

Sorry, I wrote that very poorly.  Crew-1 will, in theory, be able to go to Zenith, DM-2 is not planned to have the software capability.

The worm is back! When the @SpaceX Falcon 9 lifts off carrying @NASA_Astronauts aboard #CrewDragon, it will sport the iconic symbol to mark the return of human spaceflight on American rockets from American soil. More: https://go.nasa.gov/3bPc7sT #TheWormIsBack

Is the worm mirrored on the other side or is it the the usual SpaceX logo?

The change was driven by the space agency's administrator, @JimBridenstine, who told me he is a "huge fan" of the worm symbol.

I never hid the fact that I don't like Jim Bridenstine having become the NASA administrator. But now I really hate him being the NASA administrator.

Seriously? Bring back the worm? Sheesh...

This is a April Fool's joke right?

The meatball beats the worm 8 days a week.

I'm not sure what glory the worm was attached too.  Early shuttle, multiple failed X projects, a decade not leaving LEO?

Early shuttle is what I attach the worm to.  Meatball is great as well.  Heck, anything that's attached to something sending crews into space I'm good with!

But I remember the entire shuttle flight test program, right up to the kick between the legs on January 28th, 1986, and February 1, 2003 (saw that one personally).  From that point on NASA's logos were more unicorns, and balanced federal budgets (mythological symbols of success).

Have a good one,
Mike

Opposite. Super skeptical about electing a (seemingly) AGW skeptic to Administrator, but he has done a fantastic, FANTASTIC job since then. He has been a stupendous leader, as his response to COVID-19 has shown (he is also stuck working from home, a great example to the workforce and the nation). It’s a crying shame we don’t have that kind of leadership higher up... ...well anyway, that’s off topic.

And bringing back the Worm is Good, Actually (provided we keep the Meatball, too!).

Worm was on the best NASA lego sets.   Boom.  Argument over.

Worm was the logo of most of my childhood and adolescence.  It was also the logo that brought us the surface shots seen from Mars via the Viking landers in my formative years. I am an unabashed fan and I don't care who disagrees. They are entitled their incorrect opinions. :)

I am wondering why the US flag is (to my european eye) the wrong way around on the suits. is that just an alternative version or something special to uniforms?

I think you mean "the greatest construction project in the history of humankind".

Which failed version of space station are you referring to the ISS was built under the glorious and superior meatball.

Bias and distain for the worm logo aside, I am very happy to say 'next month' people will fly into space from the US.

OK, enough in this thread about one's preferences of meatballs vs. worms; pro- and anti-Bridenstine as NASA Administrator. Thank you.  :)

The flag, when appearing on a shoulder, is always oriented 'stars forward', as if it were being carried while in motion. When appearing on the right shoulder, as is common in the military, this makes it appear backwards. When appearing on the left shoulder, as was the case with the pumpkin suits, the flag appears properly oriented.

Hopefully in a couple of months we will see that same logo covered in soot.
