The launch of the third Geo-IK-2 satellite, also known as Musson-2 satellites, is still listed as possibly occurring this month.

Planned Russian space launches
(suborbital launches are not included!)

2018
Date Time (UTC) – Satellite(s) – Rocket/Upper stage – Cosmodrome

June – Geo-IK-2 n.Ί 13L – Rokot/Briz-KM – Plesetsk, 133/3

If so, this would be the next Russian orbital launch.
It would also be the next launch from Plesetsk.
It would be first of three remaining Rokot launches.
It would launch the next satellite to receive a "Kosmos" designation.

Therefore, if it's OK with all concerned, I have started a launch thread.

EDIT 6/29: No news here at NSF of an impending launch, and we're running out of June...also edited thread title.

EDIT 9/5: Edited thread title.

Also, noting this: (If there are any more Rokot launches at all. Thread: Rokot future.)

“Now the launch of the three Gonуеts-M satellites is scheduled for the fall,” the agency’s source said.
According to him, in August it is planned to send the Geo-IK-2 geodetic satellite with the Rockot rocket and only after that it will be possible to use a backup control system device to launch the Gonets-M.

Noted: The previous two GEO-IK-2 launches used the same LV, from the same launch site in Plesetsk, at the same UTC time on launch day: 1400 UTC.

The first SV never reached the operational orbit: 1000 km circ x 99.4 deg.
https://space.skyrocket.de/doc_sdat/geo-ik-2.htm

It looks like it's close to a sun-synchronous orbit?

If the third satellite replaces the second satellite launched three years ago, then would not the expected launch time be 1400 UTC?

Or, is it to complement the second satellite?  If so, is it possible to predict an approximate launch time?

Cross-posts; this could be the first stage drop zone for this launch.
August - Kosmos (Geo-IK-2 №13L) – Rokot/Briz-KM – Plesetsk, 133/3

Here is a NOTAM for 7 to 10 August. Could this be for the Rockot?

https://twitter.com/LaunchStuff/status/1158355021249073152

Re: NOTMAR

If it's not for Rokot / GEO-IK-2 #3, and if it's not for Soyuz / Neitron #1, then perhaps it is for a SLBM headed for Kamchatka or Shary Sagan?

IIRC, the NOTMAR zone in the northern Baffin Bay (just to the West of Thule AF Base) - it is a typical reentry area for Briz-KM for some high-inclination launches. Specifically, for *heavy* payloads, where Briz can get only sub-orbital, and the payload continue to orbit with its own propulsion. GEO-IK is this kind of heavy PL. And I do not recall Baffin Bay drop-zones for Soyuz launches (although I did not make a thorough search).

So I would guess that these NOTAMs/NOTMARs are for Rokot/Briz-KM with GEO-IK-2 #3.

So.....are there any hints of a launch today GMT other than the marine space closure notice above? I can't find any related air space closure notices and other sources doesn't indicate any imminent launch. 🤔

The window for the launch hazard area is now open (05:00 UTC). Not sure if this means there is going to be a launch anytime soon! I'll be keeping an eye on Tass to see if they give any updates.

The time window is very large (05:00-17:00).
It can be for a test of military missiles.

Same shaped navigational warning was back in november 2018 when soyuz-2.1b/Fregat-M carried Glonass-M (Kosmos-2529) to orbit. It also had a long window both time and day wise. the launch itself occurred on the 3rd, mid window so still a day or so if pattern repeats.

based on updated navigational warnings, the old warning was definitely for a missile test

Nope. All are identical with the previous Rokot launch. Even the 1345-1445 time window is the same.

If launch is successful, the satellite should receive the designation Kosmos 2540.
