Shame about the snafu that made them show the view from the same side booster twice.

Looks like the core stage might have missed the drone ship, the views after landing in the background still showed ASDS live footage, no apparent damage but no vehicle on it, either.

The scene of the two boosters landing was a Heinlein moment.

I am about 90 miles North of Cape Canaveral, about 6 miles inland, and calculated that just over 7 minutes from T-0 we should be able to hear it.  (We had been able to hear shuttle launches)   At the appointed time we went outside and were able to hear a low rumble starting.  It would have been easier to hear if a small plane had not chosen that moment to fly overhead.  :(

How exciting!  :o

My clapping and cheering spooked a couple of the pets ...

The booster landing looked just like the renders.
Cue conspiracy theories! It can't be that cool!

I guess they are going to wait a while before the final orbit raising burn?

They usually have those on the webcasts when its just a short delay.

I thought they were planning to do a simulated GTO burn, followed by a 6 hour coast demo and then TMI... but they normally show the whole thing for GTO missions, so IDK.

looks like two feeds for boosters was identical
Panicked me for a second as I thought they will both attempt landing at the same landing zone...

What a historic event! And such beauty in the landing ballet!

The funny thing about that landing -- it looked just like the concept animation, except it was REAL!  ;D

It may have taken an extra 5 years or so, but it was worth it.

Damn that was pretty.

No, really. Amazing webcast. I was screaming like a little kid.

Hopefully this question is ok here.

Considering that F9H and D4H are about the same size what is the primary reason for the performance differences?

Grats SpaceX ... JOB FREAKING WELL DONE :)

IF anyone can measure the landing time difference between the two boosters, I for 1 would sure love to know what it was.

Delta IV Heavy is half the size of Falcon Heavy.

Also, kerolox is better than hydrolox for first stages.

I didn't think they were doing a GTO burn, this being an experimental mission its probably best that Starman doesn't go near any satellites.  ;D
