Falcon Heavy - Saturn V Center Launch Viewers

Starting this topic for any NSF members which will be watching the Falcon Heavy launch from the Saturn V Center at KSCVC and would like to have a mini-meetup there.

My Dad and I have tickets for this and (presuming we can get a flight out there!) will have our Champaign flutes ready for a toast. Should we just all start yelling "NSF!" over and over until all members are present and accounted for?  ;D

I'm not really sure, but we can come up with something. If the full member meet up is pre-launch, we can organize something there.

I'm sure I'll be the only bald, bearded dude carrying a big camera lens with a slightly exasperated woman in tow.  ;)

I was gonna say let's par-tay. But seeing as there'll be kids there let's just be hap-pay at this next step toward leaving this rock.

I was thinking the same thing. Where's the NSF online store? Maybe I'll stop by Office Depot and pick up either some nametags or stickers and print the NSF logo on them. If the big meet up is before launch I can share with others and if not, try and find me. I will most likely be wearing my blue SpaceX T-Shirt and a black backpack.

For those that don't visit the Saturn V Center often to get the best view of the landing phase i would suggest meeting in section "C" near the top.

Hope everyone that gets tickets has a great time. I did when I got to see CRS-13 launch last month.

Some health tips from a Florida resident:

1) Bring sunblock, sunglasses, and a hat per person. Wear light clothes with long sleeves and pants. Cover your feet with shoes, not flip-flops.  Forget the temperature; if you spend more than an hour outside you can get burned. And burns = skin cancer.

2) Bring bug spray. 100% deet is best, but is also really bad for you. Decide now: West Nile or Deet-induced cancer. Either way, insects are annoying. At least this time of year has less bugs, but less is relative.

3) Bring water and maybe a few light snacks. I recommend something like a Camelbak (1-2 liters per person). Yes, KSC will have food and drink for sale but it's ridiculously expensive. Quick story: for STS-135, we used almost 2 gallons of water. And the traffic was so bad leaving that the beef jerky in our packs was a godsend.

4) You can buy all of the above anywhere you want, but the closer you get to KSC, the more expensive they will be.

5) Above all, remember that Florida is in the subtropical zone. It can be humid and bright, humid and dark, humid and rainy, or any of the above plus mosquitoes the size of hummingbirds (only a slight exaggeration). So plan accordingly.

I typically look like this going out (except I'm not gonna wear shorts): .

I do that because I'm pale and don't want to die of skin cancer. Lemme die of alcohol poisoning, like a man should.

I had no idea. Thanks!
Some enterprising person could buy up an assortment and sell it onwards at a small markup (not me, work prevents me from going at all, sadly)

Is there any way you can mark up this overhead shot as to where section C is? Would like to know in advance where we'd be trying to scramble to.

That's a great question I didn't think to ask until you did! I've got a tripod or two and more cameras than I have limbs so it'd be great if I could pre-plan where to be that a) gets the best view possible and b) doesn't prevent anyone else from getting their best view possible.
