Congratulations to SpaceX for a successful FH maiden launch. Launching 27 engines at once successfully has changed my attitude to high engine nos. on 1st stages. So BFR should have no problem with 31 engines.

Go and have a look at the live webcam from Starman. There was an incredible view of the car slowly rotating over the Earth, with the planet reflected in the hood... - Mesmerizing.

Considering Elon said he considers the mission a success if it clears the towers.

CONGRATS. This was AWESEOME!!!!

Two out of three.

Theres 3 indications that the center core is lost. Idnication 1, at T+8:35 launch net announces "we lost the center core"

At T+8:40 there is smoke on the drone ship, camera then skips back to the announcers, but you can see the droneship, fogged up in the background:

(attachments)

then the smoke clears and shows an empty deck :(

but theres a starman live feed:
watch this:

FANTASTIC - congrats to SpaceX

This will have to be the longest ever surviving (and fastest) Lotus Built Car.
(Chassis etc Lotus, running gear Tesla)

I'm quite surprised nothing fell off!

Amazing job by SpaceX and everyone involved.

Had a pretty good idea things were going to go well when the side boosters separated cleanly. Simultaneous landings looked awesomely routine.  ;D Would say it all went very well, But:

That. Was. Spectacular

From someone who has been watching space launches since the Gemini days: BEST. LAUNCH. EVER.

Amid all the depressing and horrifying news we hear daily, making us doubt the future of humanity, there comes this exhllarating moment when all of us can share, many of us elated and moved to tears, a different vision of hope and grand possibilities. Thank you, SpaceXers, for realizing today a big part of that dream. How magnificent it was! And thanks to NSF for its vital coverage of the news and on-going story of spaceflight. Bravo!

Congratulations to SpaceX, was biting my nails during liftoff (slow off the pad!) and during booster separation but they made it look easy! 150% successful, the only possible hiccup was booster landing, but even that was almost there!

Now let's get some more heavy payloads!
