Meh - the only one that's that unusual is the frequent celebrity sightings. Free food etc... is pretty common at startups where you work more than 60 hour weeks.

I work for a private equity firm in a fairly boring industry, nowhere near as flashy as rocket science.

We get free coffee and tea.  There is free food constantly either from lunch meetings or leftovers.  We haven't had movie screenings but we have Cubs games, St. Patrick's Day parties, family day open house with clowns, bouncy castle, etc.  The JP Morgan Corporate Chase with full after party, and the Christmas party.
And I don't have to launch rockets at 3am.

So those perks don't seem "outrageous" to me.

You make that sound like it's a bad thing...

10 years ago no, it'd be great.  At 41 with a 4 year old, I'd prefer not to work the night shift.

"outrageous" is just a clickbaity headline.

These perks aren't that surprising, in context. They all ARE perks though. Especially the last one.... I suspect many of us fans wish we could work there but can't for one reason or another (too much other life stuff, for example, or not the right kind of chops)

The original quora response is worth reading, more enlightening than the '7 outrageous thingies' article written around it.

Every rocket company in the world has similar gathering in the main factory to watch launch. In Europe, they do it even if modt launches take place during the night (due to time difference with French Guiana). Nothing special about SpaceX on this one.

Hawthorne's cafeteria food is really good, especially for the small price paid. The few days I was fortunate to spend there illustrated why SpaceX subsidizes meals; all of the tables were filled with small groups talking shop and networking.

.. and when some tech people get sent to Florida to work a problem some cafeteria people get sent with them.
Human spaceflight is basically just LARPing now.
