Here's a
good pdf link on the landing (and post-landing) process. About 5.5 minutes before touchdown the orbiter is only 96km (60 miles) away laterally and still 25km (83kft) high.

3 minutes away from the FD11 wake-up. High-lights of FD11 is FCS check-out and RCS hotfire. Also later today the KU band antenna will be stowed so no more live video from Atlantis.

How are these PAO events programmed? Is each channel allocated a fixed amount of time to ask questions?
Just asking because I've noticed that quite often news channels tell the crew to hold on while we wait for the interviewer to pay attention to the STS crew instead of some other live tv event. Worst case was during the previous flight when we got to hear a complete live report from Lebanon before attention was shifted to the shuttle.
When they "burn" time like that will it eat into the other station's time? Since the KU band time is limited there should be pressure on the news channels to start talking asap. Just my opinion.

Yes, KSC only on Wednesday...the ascent entry flight director, Steve Stich, will discuss the landing opportunities and philosophy after he gets off shift tomorrow in the mission status briefing...currently scheduled for 8 am Eastern tomorrow (Tuesday).
Steve Stich said in the mission status briefing that the current strategy is KSC only on Wednesday. They have consummables through Saturday, but would like to be "wheels stop" no later than Friday.
If they can't make it in tomorrow (Wednesday) and weather forecast holds -- saying that the cold front moves through the KSC area -- it will be KSC only on Thursday, too.
Steve Stich said he might call up Edwards for Thursday if they wave off tomorrow and the weather changes from forecast significantly (for example, the front stalls out in the area).
Edwards would be called up for Friday if it gets that far.

Are they suspecting it fell off Atlantis?

Maybe. Relative velocity to Atlantis was very small, object had a black colour and the camera was looking towards Earth.
They're doing a survey of Atlantis right now.

I guess they're discussing wether to do a OBSS visual scan of the underside.
The question is, what caused it to fly off? What they did today was test the aerosurfaces and all thrusters. The thrusters have been used before on the flight but the ailerons have been freefloating.

"what caused it to fly off?"
Wouldn't we need to identify what it could be before asking that question?

I don't think they'll use the OBSS. The RMS is more than able to do a visual scan of the underside.

Hm yeah

I was thinking along the lines that if we check what happened today vs the day yesterday after undocking we might get an idea.
I hope Chris is in the loop and can drop us the news soon.

Exactly. Right it still an unknown object. It can be anything from a single tile to Atlantis's own shadow being magnified.

That's what I thought too DaveS. I thought it was a shadow indeed...
