"Apollo Spacecraft Monitor" Vest - Seeking Info
« on: 06/06/2017 01:08 am »
Hi, there.

My partner James, a huge NASA fan, just bought this "Apollo Spacecraft Monitor" vest. See picture.

Since he's not been able to find out anything about it (and his birthday is coming up), I'd like to give him the surprise of learning about it (like when it would've been used, by whom, under what circumstances, which mission, are there any photos of people in them, etc.).

I'd welcome any thoughts or advice you might give me on how to do some more research.

Many thanks!

Amy in Texas

The shuttle program had OIC's (Orbiter Integrity Clerks).  They monitored and logged in and out personnel and tools that went in and out of the shuttle orbit.  I bet the person that wore this vest did the same thing for Apollo.
